My "other" Hobby...

Jeeze I almost forgot the original question.

Personally I do not like pocket pistols and revolvers, although plenty of people rely on them. If I didn't know a person and had to recommend a generic perfect carry gun it would be the G19.

XD's are also excellent.

Oh, and to add others I've used:

KT P3AT - good gun. Shockingly, you best be hanging on if you don't want it to FtFeed. It actually has too LITTLE mass to it. Another 2oz or so would have helped. LOL Makes a 380 feel like a 40.

I don't own a PF9, but I own a P11. The P11 works great. The PF9 is same weight and stats except for width. That would make carry easier, but not easy. I try and pocket-carry my P11 and it's on the heavy side.

I suspect the same thign with the Kahr 45. Right size, but heavy. (The 9mm seems the right balance - wish I could find one in MA.)

The PF-9, according to Keltec, is 4.5oz lighter loaded. The thinning is significant and the trigger is quite a bit nicer, at least in my experience.

I have to say I appreciate all the great reports to this post. BUT.................

If it isn't a Glock 26, then you're just not carrying the best!!

How's that for adding fuel to the fire?

BTW, I'm not putting down anyon's weapon of choice, just joking with 'em.

I daily carry a G26 or a S&W M60 (no dash). I much prefer the 26 as it is the same weight and overall size as the 60, but with 11 rounds compared to the 5 of the Smith.

My Glock 27 begs to differ:p

Same size, but more power, and very low recoil!
Only a bit more recoil than the 26 and just as accurate:thumbup:

You gentleman are ALL wrong; the 19/23/32 platform is the best. ;)

Now, I was at Boresight Solutions yesterday, and he was working on 19 where he'd cut the grip down to the size of a 26. 4" bbl, 2-finger grip, can take ALL Glock 9mm mags, and is still Glock reliable WITH superior ergonomics. He'll of a package. Maybe I'll have him do it to the brand new 19 I left there yesterday...

Some great pics! Love that Socom:cool: I've been lusting after one of those since they came out. I've had a chance to buy one for @$1,200 a couple of times, but have resisted. Primarily because I like to shoot and I'm not sure I could afford to feed it at @$.60 a round. Maybe next year.

I actually had a 625-10 and I loved that gun, but to me the recoil was down right painful. I tried the wood grips, the Houge's, and a rubber set of boot grips. The recoil was pulling the bullet out of the case shooting 230grain gold dots. I tried 185's and couldn't tell a whole lot of difference. After seeing the Night Guard, I'm reconsidering the 625-10 with the big Pachmyer wrap around grips. I even called about having the 625-10 magnaported, but I'm not sure how much that would help. I did pocket carry it when I had it. I'm not a big guy, but I buy pants with large pockets:D

I had a PM9 and I liked it, but thought that it too was a little heavy for a 9mm pocket pistol, and I realize that the PM45 is heavier and little bigger, but it's a .45, so I'd like to give it a try. There was a PM45 at the gun show this weekend. Price was $680 plus tax. I ask them what's the best they can do for cash, she says $660 plus tax. I got a little ticked and walked off. It didn't even have the black slide or night sights. Another friend says that a friend has one with night sights for $700. To me, that's a lot for a carry gun.

Right now, I'm considering either buying one of the Ruger's LCP, LCR, the 1917 and having the barrel cut to 4", or the Scandium 2 3/4" 325 for $500. Problem with the LCP is cost and availability of ammo. Obviously, I love a .45 for a carry gun, but price is a factor.

What say you, Hogs?

Price is a factor:rolleyes::yawn:

And this from the president of M.U.G.(MOAB User's Group):D

"Silverbullets," who did the orange handled knives?

those are Bark Rivers the Bravo and Bravo II, I have now added a matching Gunny to complete the set, at least until Mike releases the Bravo III and the bravo folder later this year

True - but part of that weight is ammo-weight. But significant if their figures are correct.

I've considered the PF-9. Thinner is more important.

If you can still get them a Star PD was a nice compact carry .45 ....not too expensive either from memory although I never bought one....it is a basic small 1911....but did not kick too bad from memory....I used two different ones on seperate occaisons and both were reliable:thumbup:

Desert Eagle aside, I am a big fan of my Sig Sauer SP2340. It's one of the Sig Pro models, with the polymer frame.

I'm a big fan of the Walther P-38. It got the job done.
Now I'm a Glock fan.
