How about a P5 Compact? Oh, and it's wearing Nill grips.

My blued PPK/S that was made in 1976:

Of course, you're aware that the P5 is a modern version of the P38, right?

Yes, I am. My Dad has the PP .380.
I like the P-38 w/o the dust cover. I forget that model number, P-4??

I owned and sold an LCP. Didn't like it at all, even for deep concealment. It had very stout recoil, and was so small it was almost hard to hold on to...and I have small hands. I went with a Smithy 442 instead, and am VERY happy I did. Sold the LCP to a friend, and he dislikes shooting it as well. It would function for a BUG or last-ditch belly gun, but then the 442/642 functions just as well, and .38 packs more punch than a .380.

On another note, if you want some grip work done to that XD, check Www.boresightsolutions.com. GentleBen (the owner) is a good friend of mine who posts here occasionally. He's also a Busse man with an SHe and an NOe...thanks to me and some others here.

That is odd, I found the LCP to be mild compared to my S&W 340 in Scandium. Believe me...even with 38SP that sucker bucks way more the ol Elsie Pea.

Both are belly guns really. I love my 1911's even have an S&W Commander in Scandium but I just find I carry the little LCP and 340 way more.

If you only owned two handguns (pictured above) and had a chance to trade the XD, as pictured, & $300 for an unused SHBM (sans sheath) would you?

If I get rid of the XD, it would mean that I'd have to use my Colt for IDPA, borrow a friend's gun, and/or buy something else to be competitive in IDPA ($400+). Also, considering a Lee turret press to start reloading (@$150/$200). I know it'll save me money in the long run and would give me options on my next pistol purchase. If I were reloading, I could buy something in .38/.357, .45ACP, .44SPL and have more affordable/available ammo than trying to buy 9mm in bulk when I find it cheap and have the money.

p.s. Lee, thanks for the nomination as president, first, I think we need a membership drive. Email me. I'll let you use the MOAB, if you'll let me shoot the LCP:D

I have traded and moved several guns, alot of them to finance my knife addiction. I will not let any more go, considering the political climate of our country, especially if I only owned 2 of them. The only way I would do that trade is if you turned right around and put the 300.00 down on another sidearm imho.

Good advice. The thing is, I'm adding the $300 to even up in the trade. So I'd have to come up with another $400+ to put down on another handgun. I still have my AR and my 870.

I love my Glock 22. This is my EDC and has been for 16 years. I have had the LAW holster for 15 years now and it is holding up very well. One, of several, things that I like about the Glocks is the finish. The finish is worn a bit, but the metal will not rust. This puppy will get soaked with sweat during the summer and I have never had any rust on it.

in that case I would say no.... I moved a bunch of guns, but I had a bunch to move. I had amassed 8 Glocks, realized I didn't shoot most of them and decided to let a few go. I regret some of the transactions, others I am okay with but yours sounds like something I would consider passing on if it were me. just my opinion. Also consider that the cost of guns is on the rise, I got my XD for 549.00 (plus fees) a couple years ago, now they are over 100.00 more..... fueled no doubt by the demand but also the dealers shelves can't keep those, Glocks, other popular models in stock. I would consider hanging on to it.......

True - but part of that weight is ammo-weight. But significant if their figures are correct.

I've considered the PF-9. Thinner is more important.

I cannot agree with you more on that.

What about this, guys?

Your first pic is one of the nicer ones I have seen on this site, very nice indeed.

If you are going to trade, why not compete with the Colt? I was under the opinion that IDPA was supposed to be a 'real world' competition where people use what they actually carry. I did pretty well with a Kahr for a while and a HK P7M8 worked well too before I got rid of it (got way too hot for a range gun).

I have been fondling this one lately:

It is a Browning Hi-Power "Renaisssance" (fully hand-engraved with "coin" finish) that was made in 1972.

I just changed its grips from the Pearlite ones shown to Nill wood grips.

I should point out that I have a special place in my heart for the Browning Hi-Power. The very first centerfire pistol that I used, when I was a teenager, was my dad's Hi-Power. 9mm version, of course. I am glad that I own two excellent specimens that were made in Belgium, in 1971 and 1972.

I really love the Browning HP too...except for the trigger. I hate the mag disconnect feature and they way it works and agonized over getting a smith to mod my pistol. I heard some horror stories about using a modded gun in a self defense scenariou and just decided to love them from a distance.

Sorry, but I'm addicted to Colt and HK, primarily. With the occasionally Baretta and Ruger (just for fun).

It's a terrible problem I haven't been able to beat.:o
