My "other" Hobby...

dont have experience with the guns on your list, but ive handled some kahr's and they just did not feel "quality" if you know what i mean. Look into hk45c nice handgun.

ken, the 33 is neat, our shp carries the sig .357 full size glock, love that walther and the Renaissance is, wow man that is awesome.

To each his own, but Kahr is a very high quality pistol. It is very rare that you will hear/see a bad report from anyone who owns one.

If there is a fault with them, it is that (like many other autoloaders) they do recommend a 500 round break in period because they are built to very tight tolerances.

I agree on the HK, they are top quality. I've fondled that model many times at gun shows... and even gone so far as to start rummaging through the safe when I returned home to find something I could trade for one. My near mint Colt Series 70 1911 almost fell victim, but I just couldn't do it... it's too purty to trade;). The bluing on the Colt is absolutely gorgeous. It is one of my very few safe queens.

I agree. I've played with both a K9 and an MK9, and they were VERY high quality guns. Maybe the PM's don't feel as sturdy, but then back in '86-'87 people said Glocks felt like toys, so go figure.

Jamie, when you get older and wiser, you'll find the GLOCKS are what a combat handgun is meant to be;) J Browning had a great idea back at the turn of the last century, but it HAS been improved on. YMMV, of course, but then you'd be wrong:eek:

I don't go by G19G26 for nuthin!
GLOCKS ROCK the WORLD

Sorry, but I'm addicted to Colt and HK, primarily. With the occasionally Baretta and Ruger (just for fun).

It's a terrible problem I haven't been able to beat.:o

I should point out that I have a special place in my heart for the Browning Hi-Power. The very first centerfire pistol that I used, when I was a teenager, was my dad's Hi-Power. 9mm version, of course. I am glad that I own two excellent specimens that were made in Belgium, in 1971 and 1972.

Ken, you I and must live in parallel universes. First with our introduction to knives the RMK #1s from our fathers. Then with the Browning Hi-Power. My dad had a Hi-power that I loved to shoot. What a nice shooting pistol. My dad's Hi-Power was not a ornate as yours, which is SWEEET.

I concur with you about Glocks. They will feed anything. My G22 has endured quite a bit of use and abuse with out any problems. I have taken my G22 to the range and not cleaned it. A year later it functions flawlessly. Also the Tenifer finish will not rust even though it is worn and sits in the small of my back as my EDC.

The Hi-Power that my dad had was a "Plain Jane" with adjustable sights. The Renaissance is one that I snagged a couple years ago, and my life is better for it.

+1

I cleaned four Glocks today, including my wife's G19. It has a couple thousand rounds through it since its last cleaning, and was still going strong. Lots of stuff was caked on, but it did not affect its reliability in the slightest.

My favorites are the G19, G33, and G20.

The Glock 19 was my first trip down Polymer lane. It's an early 2nd generation. Just because I love the Busse TAN blade finish, I had the slide on that Glock coated to match. Love that pistol. She's won her cost and some more at regional matches. The EDC G26 just doesn't get cleaned on any kind of routine basis. Don't need to. Just when I get around to it. The Glock 21 gets cleaned every so often, but then it, like the 19, are match guns. not a whole lotta carry time recently on either.

BTW, I've shot some pretty ugly ammo out of these pistols and never had a lick of problem. Course, the premium EDC loads are super smooth. No hollow point feed problems ever.

I took these quick-and-dirty snapshots a few minutes ago, and are of my Browning Hi-Power Renaissance wearing Nill FN0258 grips:

I just retook the photos using my preferred blue background, and with my studio lighting:

Man, Ken...that HP is just stunning, and the Nill's set it off perfectly. You have immaculate taste, brother.

I feel obliged to point out that there is no such thing as irrational love for the P5C. It's quite natural.

I took some other snapshots this morning. Here is my S&W M&P 360 revolver wearing Nill SW0596 grips.

Nill grips are a great way to dress up a Walther PP, PPK, or PPK/S.

Here is my Manurhin PP (.32 Auto) wearing Nill WA1058 grips:

Yep, Glocks are very reliable and I have seen them take some abuse. The only modern handgun I have fired that just doesnt seem to be up to standards seem to be pretty much any brand of sub-compact 1911 in .45. I have had a Springfield (send back to factory twice), Kimber and Para-Ord...and I could every one to quit running (and no limp wristing either) so I wont carry one. Commander is the smallest I will futz with .

Ive got to wonder though...will the Glock still be a viable weapon after its handed down to the grandkids...I mean, plastic is plastic and while it has the half life of plutonium it still gets brittle. Cant say that about the all iron kind.

Ken, how many of those Nill'd guns are users/carriers, and which? How do they change the feel of a particular gun?
