My replacement MTECH Trail Master knock-off just arrived (now with pics)

So...have you been convinced that the knife your experts on YouTube told you was great, is, in fact, garbage?

If so, you should tell them that, not us, because we have been telling you that over and over for a couple weeks.

I'm convinced now. I'm also convinced not to put any stock in online reviews and Youtube endorsements.

I did in fact submit a negative review in BudK's site after I sent the first one back. It was the only negative review in the twenty. Not sure if it ever was posted though.

This knife should come with a disclaimer like prop knives such as: "This product is for display purposes only and not intended to be used like a real Trail Master. Being a cheap copy, knife may come with a warped blade and or edge not in line with the handle. Metal being of low quality may have cracks, pits and seams running through it."

Now, it if had that in a box below the knife and I bought it, then yeah, I shouldn't have expected any more than what I got.

You should read more and post less. You know very little about knives or metallurgy.

 Rat

Back before I had my daughters I did private security, Bouncing, body guarding and other LPO work... Andyway reading this full post made me think of a saying my trainer use to say to me... Why argue with a drunk, in the end you've wasted your breathe and they are still a drunk!

$20 garbage Knife and 4 pages about it ??? Lol I couldn't get that on Warenski .

I have submitted more than six negative reviews on budk and none of yhem is showing ;-) It is dishonest site with mostly garbage stuff and deceiving advertising.

The reason that it will flex instead of breaking is that it is not hard. That picture just proved in my mind that it has no heat treat at all. This means that you won't be able to get it very sharp, it will dull easily, and it will flex.

But since it only cost $20, swallow your mistake and use it.:)

This simply isnt true. It really depends on the steel. Many makers actually test the quality of their blades by bending them. I also disagree that most makers prefer blades to break instead of bend. A blade that breaks is simply dangerous.

How long have you been making knives and heat treating blades? I think you have a bit more to learn. Do you have any pictures of the knives you have "made" and heat treated? I find it rather unrealistic that you have been collecting since july and have been a member on this forum since this past september but you are now an expert in knife making and heat treating.

Lol mtech. Cheap knives are great for use, abuse, and eventually probably the garbage.

am I the only one who picked up a cool looking mtech knife in the time before I knew of better knives only to have it fall apart soon after?

I could definitely see this fixed blade seeing some real usage, but let's face it...mtech sucks.

I look at it like this...buying a higher quality blade, there is a chance you might get a dud.
Buy an mtech blade or some other knock off, there is a chance you might get a decent quality blade.

I now think the online reviews are an edited, well orchestrated scam, snake oil BS advertising. There is even one where the buyer goes on about all the positives of his new knife and says it displayed none of the supposed negatives such as twisted, warped blades that some people received from a "bad batch." The knives have a 4.5 out of five star rating because the sheaths that come with it are flimsy. That was consistant. I think the same person may have written all of the glowing reviews. Fooled me.
It would have been nice to have had a $20.00 TM clone to leave in the truck w/out much worry, something not possible with a real one.

No it isn't. It is a site/business targeted to a particular audience with particular products at a particular pricepoint. They do what they do very well. And they move a lot of cheap product to people looking for a cheap product. I just bought some knives there myself. I did so knowing full well what to expect when I open the box. A pile of dirt cheap knives at a dirt cheap price. Not Sebenzas or Striders or Leeks or Hinderers. Jarbenzas. You buy a Jarbenza knowing it is a Jarbenza and expect nothing else for your $0.56. $19.99 for 36 of those puppies. And a plastic jar to keep them in. Heat treat? Fit and finish? No blade play and solid lockup? High end steel? Advanced composition handle materials? Noneofthat. Jarbenzas. They are what they are. BudK... it is what it is... a successful purveyor of cheap knives to a market that demands cheap knives over quality knives.

While supplies last we are allowing retail customers the opportunity to purchase this jar of 36 pocket knives below wholesale pricing.
• Razor-sharp stainless steel blades
• Full-color impact-resistant ABS handles
• Packaged in handy counter display jar
• Each knife is 4 1/4" overall

Who knows. All I know is if I hadn't found that ugly crack or whatever it is in the blade they just painted over I would be happy instead of sitting here crying my eyes out.

Seriously dude? You get what you pay for. You obviously have the ability to Google reviews. You apparently just have an issue with filtering out the negative things you hear about a product. Being stubborn doesn't win the day. For a little more money you could get a real knife rather than a dangerous poorly made toy.

I still don't get your obsession with the Trail Master, but why not buy the real thing? For Cold Steel there is also the Laredo, the Natchez, the Marauder, and the Recon Scout. MANY other companies also make quality bowies for a good price. Shop around. Don't impulse buy a pile of junk.

Or what about a worthless 2lb. piece of Chinese junk travelling back and forth via UPS, LOL.

Seriously, I've learned a lesson here. My latest obsession or fixation is now the Ontario Gen II SP43 Spec Plus 8 inch, Carbon Steel, 'Mericun made... Oh yeah.

J A R B E N Z A S !

Why would anyone knowingly want to order a bucket full of cheap, Chinese junk knives unless it's to unload to the illegal alien flea market crowd where you could advertise a 'Buy one, steal one free' deal.

Why would anyone knowingly want to order a cheap, Chinese junk knock - off unless it's they belong in the gullible "bang for your buck" crowd?;)

Unless that is what you expect and want. :)

Mmmmmmm! J A R B E N Z A S !

I've found this to be a sneaky way to introduce people to quality knives. Give them one of these guys for free, let them dull or break it, then offer up something like a Rat or Tenacious to replace it. With luck the ball will start to roll and they will become ambitious(no pun intended) for better offerings.

You would be on the right track! I have my motives and they don't include giving away free high dollar knives or deceiving people into believing these are. These Jarbenzas, as I have said, are cheap... cheaply made and cheaply sold. They don't compete with anything currently on the market. They aren't collectable and hardly worth stealing. They are just cheap fun junk that are obvious in what they are. And I bet I have more fun with them than I would with a $20 Mtech knife! :D
