My sandblasted BK5 and BK20

Wow looks great! Thanks for another new idea.

Here's a virgin with TKC camo scales.....

Man those look awesome!

Love the TKC grips, also as far as sandblasted steel, only my personal experience but its not caused me any issues on mine. I think it could, but I clean mine regularly and oil them. I think the little dents hold a little bit of oil, just like they would hold moisture.

Once you use it the matte finish will smooth over giving it the appearance of snail trails. The sand blasted finish is real easy to mar up just like a brand new CRK.

I bead blasted my Randall 14 over 30 years ago. I use flitz to clean the blade and there are no streaks other blemishes and on a side bar this knife spent its whole time as my travel companion while I was in uniform. It was a great purchase in 1986 and was start of my serious knife buys. I was recently told the bead blasting killed the collectors value but that means nothing to me as it will be sons when he needs an upgrade from his current knife he wears while in uniform. ....just my .02 cents.

Very nice man. The patina looks sick!

Thanks Warrior! I decided to just let it patina naturally so I blasted it all away. Back to a fresh canvas! Also got the micarta scales in. They were sitting kinda proud on the spine side so I filed them down flush. They feel soooo much better!

thanks for sharing. i've been considering sand blasting my 9 when the coating's a bit more chewed up. looks slick.

I've done this before to various knives and a few other Beckers. I like the matte finish because it gets rid of all the machining marks for a much cleaner look.

Looks great, really changes the overall appearance. Would you please tell me what media type and grit size you used? Thanks

Pickle mustard patina

That is probably one of the best mustard patinas I have seen yet. It has a nice uniform appearance, not splotchy and chaotic like some I've seen. Nicely done.

With those micarta scales you put on, a natural patina is going to look amazing. Can't wait to see it after you have put it to work a time or two, or three, etc.

Thanks, it was real easy to do. I put pickle juice in a spray bottle, squirted some mustard in, shook it up, and sprayed it on. That was about 2 layers worth of spray after 30 minutes of sitting. After it was said and done with, I wasn't too fond of it, so I blasted it back to raw metal! lol I'll just use it like a knife and let it do what it does!

Man, that looks fantastic!
But tell me...does it sport a world famous 91Bravo edge on it yet?
