My sandblasted BK5 and BK20

Jebus Dubz! That place sure is purdy!

Sure is. He had it for 55 or so years, and just sold it this past year. His taxes per year were more than he originally paid for it. That was the last time we got to go before it sold.

I can put a major overhaul on your edge that will chop even better next time you're out! If you can part with it for a week, send it to me. It's the least I can do!

Pickle mustard patina

That is beautiful! I use brown spicy mustard when I did my last patina. I love the look.

Bright and shiny, patina, or just service stripes from use - never get tired of looking at a BK5!

Finally got my bk20 into the sandblaster today. Man, these Beckers look pretty damn sweet stripped of their coating! The finish is perfect! Pay no mind to the excess oil on the blade...

Once again, the finish turned out real nice, just like my bk5

I etched prior to stripping, so the logos still look great!

Chopped a few vines down and split some kindling for the Emberlit. I think this one is gonna work out just fine. It's got quite a heft and bites deep and bites hard! Wanted to take some glamour shots out before I really start wailing and putting battle scars on her!

Looks awesome man. I still say it would look killer with some wood scales. Or perhaps some blue scales from TKC.

I've just never been a fan of wood scales. I may pick up some micarta for it later on down the road, but the factory handles feel just fine to me!

Hey, we're not talking about function pal, we're talking about looks. :D

That 20 looks absolutely sick with that sand job! Already liked your 5, and this one worked out even better imo. Good job man, good job.

Thanks shark! I thought about stripping the 4 that Warrior gave me, but I think I'll leave that one be.

Blasted 20 looks great, 91!
I'm trying to figure out the edge. Did you protect it during the process? Resharpen?
From the photos, to me, it looks like one side has the sandblasted finish, while the other is shiny but still with the factory toothy edge.
Do tell...

I really like the look of wood scales, and think it would go great. But my 20 is a working tool. So I'll probably go micarta - though G10 isn't out of the question, either.
Still figuring out what I want to do with that one.

I was careful to blast down away from the edge instead of directly with the edge, which would dull it. Honestly it felt a little sharper after blasting. Still factory and no edge work done as of yet. I'll wait until I dull it a little bit before I start crafting the edge back to sharp. I love micarta and I like g10 as well. I'll eventually get some aftermarket scales for it, but I'll use it a while first with the factory handles because the sand blasted finish provides a little more traction. I can't wait to take it out camping and really put it through its paces with hardwood fire prep!
