Mystery GAW/Challenge

I needed a little pick me up half way trough this morning so "Bluenose" and I went by our local Timmies drive through.
For years I would get a medium double-double , but these days I just get it with two creams :).
Got a box of timbits as well for my kids but I could not resit having one at least one :) , and "Bluenose" wanted a taste of it as well :D

I swapped out the Opinel of yesterday for a SAK to pair with my Queen #31 for the day. Not much work for these two so far (I'm at my desk, paying bills online), but I have to put away duck decoys now that season's over. I'm going to remove the old weights and install Texas rigs (with snap swivels at the decoy and the weight) on the decoys. The Queen will cut off the old weight lines and the SAK will open a beer or two.

Hmmm...How am I going to cut this orange with this tiny knife?
AjttHH6.jpg

With my Laguiole, I can slice the orange quickly in half, and cut the orange into wedges in under ten seconds. I'll have to use another method with the peanut. My boss uses a trapper to peel his citrus, removing the peel in one continuous spiral. Guess I could do that with a peanut, but too slow for me.

I'll score the peel into six sections, and peel them off with my fingers:

Took longer than ten seconds, but faster than peeling in a spiral.

No scurvy for me!

I've been working on a couple of tarp set-ups over the past couple of days, and the Bullnose has been helping me out a lot

It also helped me swap out the supplied lanyard, on a ferro rod I bought on a whim, for one made of firecord. The striker tucks away in the handle, which makes it very pocketable, but unfortunately, the striker is rubbish, and the ferro rod itself isn't great o_O Teach me to loiter in outdoor shops

Breakfast chores - cutting up some celery.

Lunch snack - I lied about the cheddar - wifey was home today and she likes the brie so....wifey wins! When cutting the apple in two, I cut half way and the thick blade cleaved the rest - crisp apple is best with a very thin blade, but we worked it out just fine. :)

Chili for dinner tonight so no more food cutting, but I did have to cut open a plastic mega-pack of bounty paper towels, no picture.

I have noticed that this knife is easy to pinch open - unless your fingers are wet. The blade is large and it makes you think about how badly you could be cut if you weren't being careful and following protocol.

That knife is in great shape r8shell! Slightly jealous of the rounded bolsters with my selection for the week.
The rounded bolsters and low set blades make it very comfortable in hand. (especially in contrast to the Case Jumbo Stockman I've been using in the garden on the weekends)

Sharpened a pencil this morning:

Stuart, I decide several weeks ago I am going to do the same with my decoys, tried of them being a tangled mess no matter how careful I am with them.

The SAK and I spent about five hours in the truck, seven total, going up and back on I 25 to visit a friend today. I thought I would use it as a fidget while driving but traffic was so bad I felt I needed all my attention on the road and both hands on the wheel to survive.

We did open some letters today. This was dinner last night and will be the same tonight so unless something comes along or I think of a use, this is it for me and SAK today.

Mike, thank you, this a great GAW, I'm enjoying carrying the SAK and everyone's photos and narratives!

My beautiful Wife: Babe, can you carve up that chicken for dinner?
Me: Oh yeah. I’m on it.
Wife: What the heck? I left you a knife to use. Why are you using that tiny pocket knife.
Me: Don’t worry. There’s a challenge.
Wife: What challenge? Did you even wash that thing before you started?
Me: The main blade is always clean. No worries.
Wife: What challenge????
Me: My new virtual knife buddies want me to carry this knife all week. They seem to cut up all their food with pocket knives. I’m giving it a shot.
Wife: You need new virtual friends.

Another entry in The Diary of a Mad House Knife:
Dear Diary,
My morning duties were quite similar to those of Monday morning: cut up an apple (2/3 for lunch, 1/3 diced up to put on cereal), sliced 4 large plump red seedless grapes, 8 small green seedless grapes, and 1/2 a banana to also put in the cereal.

Evening duties: sliced a broccoli stalk in half lengthwise and chopped up one half to put into the 1.5 pint microwave bowl; cut some shredded carrots into shorter pieces and added to the bowl, diced 1/4 yellow bell pepper to add to the mix; sliced off and diced up 4 slices of beef summer sausage to put in the bowl; chopped up some kind of curly zucchini that my wife bought somewhere and didn't like and hid that ingredient in the bowl; opened a new bag of roasted unsalted peanuts and threw a handful into the mix. Knife wasn't needed to add some frozen peas and a couple of dollops of BBQ sauce. Slap on the cover, and nuke it till it glows! While waiting, use the Kamp-King's cap lifter to open a bottle of Killian's Irish Red.
Eatin' good in the neighborhood!:)

My son did nap for a short time so i was able to finish one belt....well almost now i gotta finish the edges and put some protectant oil/wax. Lil zipper didnt really help with this but kept me company while i worked.

:D That was really funny! :D
My friends hardly bother to roll their eyes at me any more when I stop to take a picture of my pocketknife cutting dinner.
