Mystery GAW/Challenge

Good morning! We're now at the halfway point (or further if you started early). Really appreciate everyone playing along. Made a second pocket slip last night a 1/2" longer, and that seems to have done it. Will test run this one for the next couple of days ;)

I have culinary tools for culinary uses,
Nice collection of culinary tools, I thought I had a lot, I do but not as many as you. I'll work on that today and in the future.:D
I'm new to the system, but it seems really good. We hunt farm ponds and tributaries of the Potomac River. I need to be able to adjust weights and decoys, so I'm using snap swivels at the decoy and weight.
I also need to be able to adjust the length of line from the decoy to the weight. Hope it goes well for you.

Sharpened a pencil this morning:
Love the pencil modification.

Day 3, maybe this is one that I shouldn’t have opened with the knife.

Oh , that sucks
It's your duty, but sucks nonetheless.

My beautiful Wife: Babe, can you carve up that chicken for dinner?
Me: Oh yeah. I’m on it.
Wife: What the heck? I left you a knife to use. Why are you using that tiny pocket knife.
Me: Don’t worry. There’s a challenge.
Wife: What challenge? Did you even wash that thing before you started?
Me: The main blade is always clean. No worries.
Wife: What challenge????
Me: My new virtual knife buddies want me to carry this knife all week. They seem to cut up all their food with pocket knives. I’m giving it a shot.
Wife: You need new virtual friends.

Haha! Good one!
My wife is being kept in the dark on this GAW. She doesn't need anymore reinforcing that my hobby (or online friends, lol!) is a little weird o_O

I carried it, but used it for absolutely nothing...just sat in my pocket being a moocho_O

Man, I'm really drawn to that knife.
She's a beauty
Funny how some of us shelve certain knives, ones that others find appealing.

Cool slip.
I should try some leather work sometime.

Wednesday is at hand

I work at a hospital and gotta keep my immunity up
No Corona here yet and trying to keep it that way ;)

Went and picked up a chunk of leather today at Tandy after work. Trying my hand at some basic pocket slips to go with the winners. First one came out a little short... More practice required ;)

Very cool idea and that looks pretty good. Not that you asked but here's a little trick I picked up: I generally drill out my sewing holes with a drill press and a small bit. It tends to not stretch the leather make those little 'wrinkles' around the holes. I also found it kind of hard to keep the punch perfectly vertical when going through two thick pieces of leather. I started make axe sheaths with pretty beefy leather before trying a knife sheath, but the drilling worked out pretty well either way.

My brain today...You are done with this Case knife. Go pick up the 86 or the 92 or the Snakewood or the Boker.

I have a problem. And I only have a few knives. I don’t know how you guys are coping that have treasure chests lined with drawers and drawers of every GEC knife made.

Ahh. Just hit me. The more knives you have, the less you care about rotating them every day. Cool. I just need more knives and my problem will be solved.

My collection is not exactly large, there's 2 missing, one in my pocket and the other out for a blade delete. Today was the first time I was thinking about carrying another knife for my primary though...

Just so everyone knows, this sak is in my pocket every day along with a pair of knipex pliers to assist in screw turning and whatnot, I don't think I've used either knife blade on it since I got it...1583964988753261552480.jpg

I do understand and it's not that I have drawers and drawers of knives. I have found a few patterns that I really like and carry well for me...the 62 is one of them. I wouldn't have chosen to carry this SAK if it hadn't been for the Mystery GAW/Challenge.

Since I don't use my pocket knives for culinary duties, I was looking for other chores that my Queen congress could help with. Like cutting up kindling:

More seriously, I paired it today with a Queen #38B stockman:

And used the #31 to cut some new tie-downs to keep in my truck box from extra rope that I had hanging around:

The #38B neatly nipped a cigar for after rope work relaxing (sorry for no pic, forgot my phone).
