Mystery GAW/Challenge

Still with the Bullnose, but all I've used it for, so far, today, is opening mail, and some packaging

An old pic

I see an end to the challenge in the near future...

Good morning and happy (hopefully) Friday!

Today is the last official day of the challenge, and if you're still with us, congratulations! You're almost there :D

Very much looking forward to the updates/reviews on your week. I know it hasn't been easy for some of you ;)

Things I'm learning while limiting myself to one knife for a week.
a. I don't necessarily need more than one knife to handle my daily cutting & slicing task.
b. I don't particularly enjoy carrying the same knife for more than a couple days in a row.:D

I completely agree with this, I usually carry 2/3 knives and I rotate them out on a daily basis. Many times the knife is just a fidget in my hand, sometimes you just have to keep your hands busy and it might as well be with a pretty knife.

Day 6 just waiting for something to use it on. With this challenge I have come to the realization that the knife I chose probably will not see much use in the future from me, it’s a very nice knife just bigger than I like to carry.

Day 5. Not a lot of use, but nice in the pocket.

That's a beauty

Quite a busy day for me and the Bullnose ;) Started off for an early morning trip to my local market, where each Thursday, a pal of mine runs a second-hand tool stall

After lunch, I had to go and pick up some packages, which the Bullnose got to open

Later, I couldn't find a single piece of cutlery in my kitchen, so the Bullnose had to help out again ;)

Nice "Dark Destroyer" there Jack. Nice meal, too
The slingshot phenomenon seems to be taking off these days. Is that what the Brits call them, or do you have another moniker?

Got a little work out of the Remington, opening up a package that held this Schrade Walden.

I enjoy seeing that Remington lockback here each day.
Has it grown on you at all?

Have you finished watching that Ken Burns Country Music series yet?
A great documentary
I always like Ken's programs. Marty Stewart certainly is featured a lot. One thing I noticed about several of the stars (George Jones, Merle Haggard, J. Cash, etc.,) is that most of them had difficult or absent fathers. I guess this resonated with me because of problems with my own dad. It can make you want to skip town at an early age, hang out with the wrong crowd and drink too much. I've done some of these things o_O I like to sing, too, lol!

With this challenge I have come to the realization that the knife I chose probably will not see much use in the future
I concur, though it's been an education of a sort. Another learning experience in "Knifedom."

Well, happy Friday the 13th all!

Here at the hospital, things are pretty much at Defcon 4 o_O The :poop: is hitting the fan
We had our first case of Covid-19 in the state of Maine yesterday and things are ramped up to say the least. We're a very rural state and only have one hospital capable of treating serious cases. So I'm posting a personal protection themed photo today.
Stay safe, all

Not sure if I'll have time to do an update later, so here's my synapsis for the week...

I already knew I'd enjoy carrying this knife, so that wasn't a surprise. The almost impossibly thin grind in the main blade makes for a superb slicer and allows for some amazing ease of maintenance. I ordinarily prefer a single bladed folder, but this particular one is thin enough that the pen blade doesn't really bother me with any added bulk, and I came to appreciate the utility of the little guy. I can see why this particular pattern has been so popular. As I said at the beginning this knife is kind of an heirloom so it doesn't see much pocket time for fear of losing it... I've also come to prefer a wooden handle over plastic. That being said I ordered another one to put into carry rotation and am contemplating having it re-covered in either ebony or desert ironwood.
I've had a great time with this and immensely enjoyed seeing everyone's choices and posts. Thanks again Mike for a great challenge and a very generous GAW!:thumbsup::D

Have you finished watching that Ken Burns Country Music series yet? My wife and I just finished it a couple weeks ago. It had aired one episode a week which we recorded and watched each Saturday morning. Was a very enjoyable documentary series. After eight weeks we were really sad it came to an end :)

Mike, I watched the entire series last month on TV, but I like bluegrass/country music (and this documentary) so much that I donated enough $$ to a local PBS station to "earn" the DVD, the book, and 2-CD set. Now, I can splurge with my viewing/listening. The CDs don't leave my truck (until I load them onto thumb drives to protect the CDs). It seems that I have more bluegrass/country LPs, CDs, DVDs, cassettes, and VHS tapes than I have knives - and I have a few knives.

p.s. Just when I thought bluegrass might be "aging out" -

Del can't wipe the grin off of his face!!
