Speaking of rope :D , I just picked up about 15' of 1 1/2 wire rope AKA crane cable. Gonna try to get it into my car and bring it to the hammer in for whoever wants some :D .

See ya after my week in the sunny WARM (not too hot) Cayman Islands :D , which, by the way, starts tomorrow.

OK Guys!!! The time is drawing near. :D :D Please think about nominees for the officer's and board of directors. Also please bring some show and tell and anything you may have to sell. Steel, wood, Damascus and etc. Will have tents setup in case it rains a 20 X 20 and a 10 X 10. Will be starting to setup a 7:00am so anyone that wants to help come on down. Don't forget to bring safety glasses and you will be request to sign release forum in case on any mishaps. This should be a great day and a lot of fun. ;) ;) Will be putting a agenda together this weekend with the guys to make up hand outs to let everyone know what time the demos will occur. :) Looking forward in meeting all the new guys and old ones too. (Well some of them) HEHEHE!!!

I watched jonny stouts hollow grinding video and he says he uses a piece of marble to do alot of work on. I happen to have access to alot of scrap pieces, {10" x 10" and bigger} I have a 5' x 2' peice on my bench and its dead flat. If any of you guys want some let me know and I'll bring some to the hammer in.

Indian George, When are you planning this event? Do you have contact info on the gent. from TUC -I need to have some logos printed for etching. I'd love to visit and would be happy to do a demo on piercing and carving if anyone is intereted . (www.Bellknives.com for samples ) Once again, I can't make Ashokan this year and really miss the "give and take" of a good hammer-in. It's a long drive from Nova Scotia but I've always found it well worth the effort.
(will bring lobster if nesseccary)
regards, Don

I'm racing to get my comp knife done. Forged the NS gaurd today. Gonna put a handle on it tomorrow night. I'll try and chop up some of that brazillian stuff cluttering up my shop and bring it. Looking forward to the cutting. That was a blast last time.

Hey here's a thought. Anybody need a big ass post vise. There's one for sale in an antique shop down here for 65.00. Nice shape, big HEAVY DUTY sucker. I think the jaws are about 5". If somebody wants it let me know, I'll pick it up and bring it along......
Ed

Ed, A post vise  , oh yeah, pick it up, I'll have the money waiting for you when you get to IG's :D

Larry, you got it. If it's still there tomorrow, I'll grab it for you.
George, he's got an old Fischer anvil with the horn busted off, pretty rough shape...... but that's about it.

It looks like they are forecasting a little rain so dress accordingly. Will have tents up so it shouldn't create any major problems. :D

Larry, IG etc. My regrets. Won't be able to make it this weekend after all. Larry sorry about not being able to bring a vise up for you.
Hope you all have a great time.
I hope to be able to make it out there for the next one.
