Omg, that is absolutely brilliant with a normal clip on it

I might just get one of these and a clip instead

I really liked that olamic for 400 bucks, but I dont imagine them being restocked anytime soon

You can get an awesome ZT flipper or find a deal here on bladeforum Knife Sales for a Hinderer XM18 (3" blade or 3.5 blade) or XM24 (4" blade) knife, you won;t be dissapointed.

Made in USA.

REATE does make great quality knives, but made in China. Within $300-$500 stick with made in USA just because any knife made in USA (well most of them) comes with superb warranty and service. You can even find Medford here in that price range.

Your next move should be to check the knife sales by individual section of this forum. Get your credit card & paypal ready, that section is the most addictive drug on the universe!!!
Yes! There are some good deals on ZT knives, but he’s not into them. I think they’re a great value.

I'll just looking for something closer to being on par in build quality to chris reeves knives.

Im worried it'll be like when I bought my paramilitary 2, and spyderco shaman a few months ago.
Will enjoy it for a few but not be satisfied. Buy a higher quality knife and doom the lesser one to the inside of the box locked away

I want this even more after watching apostleps review.

HOWEVER... I just realized it is sold out everywhere I check

Sad.... :( what a crying shame
Yes. I have and in my opinion this Wayfarer 247 is top
Notch. The only things that annoys me is that they don’t use torx. They give you the tool, as you can see, but it’s still not as good as torx.
I understand that you don’t really like any of the ZT’s but you owe it to yourself to look again, you really can’t beat their price point for USA made. I know some people have not been happy with customer service, they have been top notch with me.

With the ZT sale going on I highly doubt that you will find a better option than the ZT0562 TI .

0562TI is a ZT that I wanted to buy many times but never pulled the trigger. I feel the color of the ti handle is just too close to that of the blade. Bead blast ti handle like those of CRK sebanze PJ or Spyderco titanium military would be a better match (but I understand they will more easily show scratches). Blue anodized handle like the one on KnifeJoy would be great. Or if keeping the same ti color, some blue anodized hardware would make the knfie look better.

To the OP - Hinderer Xm-18 3.5" is perhaps the best all around (price, quality, aesthetics, ergo) ti flipper but I see you don't like them.

Forget your CR toy. Get a real knife :)

Seriously speaking, might be able to help you more if you are a little more specific of what you want to use the knife for, what size, etc. Not just go by brand and price.

For example, I have a full fluted Ti Spyderco Military with a Cruwear blade, that ran around $400 total and a little work. And - for what it is - its quality can take it up with the best knives out there. Unique for me because it's such a great cutter. Just because it's Spyderco it doesn't mean it's worth less than other knives. If you like smaller knives, I have a similar Native 5:

What's not to like ?

I'm currently using mostly Spydercos and Hinderers, depending on mood and purpose. If you really want a flipper, the idea given above of buying an XM-18 and adding a Ti scale is a good one. Hinderer offers unique blade profiles and cutting behavior - for example, the Hinderer Wharncliffe.

Note also that are great Russian knives other than Shiros.

Roland.

You may be right but I trust my CRKs
They are good knives

but I cannot disagree that the Half track and other Hinderer are really good hard users ;)

For spyderco I am not a fan of the shaman despite its real qualities, I have an old GB2 that I love to abuse ;)

Les George is offering a flipper VECP now. I have a couple and they are great and less than $500.

Les George has some collaborations that are nice. The Wilson Eagle is a little more than $500 but used it's surely less. The Wilson Defiant looks like an amped up VECP. The ZT 0920 is nice.

The Spyderco Advocate is a beautiful titanium flipper and less than $500.

The Camillus CUDA Dominator is no longer in production. It was available assisted or manual. It should be available for less than $500.

The Hinderer XM-18 3.5" is a new knife to me but I like it. It's less than $500 but you'll have to track down a titanium scale. I found a matching working finish scale for mine and it made an awesome knife.

I get you. Then you sound pretty set on a CRK. I think you would absolutely love it since there is no question about the quality. I have never owned one but I have heard many people say that the micarta inlay has a much better feel in hand than the regular plain ti. Gives it a little bit more width and texture to fill the hand.

Since you've bit the bullet on CRK, think about how you got to a CRK, go ahead and cry once and get a Shirogorov. You'll probably spend more on trying to find that one flipper that will bring a smile to your face than you will being like Nike and just do it !

What he said. I have ZTs and had an Olamic and WE... They are all nice/cool... But shiro is next level when it comes to flippers.

I've got several Ti flippers that are much more expensive but my favorite is the Real Steel Ti M390 Megalodon (which has been discontinued but can still be had for less than its original price of $207 new or on the 2ndary market) that I've been carrying for the past 3 weeks because there really isn't a better knife in my sizeable collection of over 300 knives that I would rather carry.

Man those ti-hinderers are a thing of beauty. I've watched a few videos on the regular g10 models, and even those have started something in my brain. I want one

I like that one. Titanium, m390, simple. Nice slicey stabby blade shape. Another definite candidate. Shame they stopped making them.

A few hours ago I was looking at the ZT0452(4" Sinkevich. Carbon fiber on one side). I started thinking "hmmm maybe this one", then I wandered back into this thread and all these beauties bumped the thought out of my mind

Kurt, the arius looks nice, but I'm really aiming for a flipper. If I go back to a regular framelock, its going to be my first sebenza 21(may do that first anyways at this point). In micarta. I dont have any inlayed CRKs. Was thinking of an insingo to change it up, but may just get the drop point.
But yea, it might be a good idea for me go grab a brand new one now while I still can the more I consider it, before they're SOLD OUT like half the beauties in this thread.
I have no desire for a sebenza 25, as I already have an Inkosi (which is superior from what I can tell). I hate the inlays on the new Sebenza 31s, and without the mystical pivot bushing, it isn't a true sebenza in my book

Decisions decisions. God I wish I would hit the lottery so I could just drop 200 grand on knives and get everything

Gosh...

I found a real steel ti megaladon, but I found out you can't disassemble it. It is threadlocked to withstand a hand grenade

That's a huge problem for me. Such a shame

Ferider: I collect folding knives mostly just for pocket bling to be completely honest. My job doesn't require the use of a knife hardly ever, and when it does, I just assume use my little 2 blade CASE knife in the opposite pocket.
I just admire them for the most part. I suppose they'd be nice if a pack of coyotes surrounds me or something. I'm not often in dangerous spots..

I do alot of fishing, and camping. For fishing I mainly use a cheap multitool I have stashed in my tacklebox. It does everything I need.

For camping, I always use a fixed blade strength superior to any folder. It only makes sense. I dont own a ton of fixed blades. I have your standard buck(one of my first knives ever from 20 years ago), a cold steel recon tanto, a cold steel srk, a cold steel laredo bowie in carbon steel, TWO san mai iii natchez bowies(more designed as a weapon, but HOO BOY! you can chop a friggin tree down and still shave hair off your arm). I also have a cold steel r1 military classic in san mai iii, and a cold steel black bear classic in san mai iii(completely USELESS knife unless planning to fight or attack with it, which I would not. Not sure what I was thinking when I grabbed that one @_@)

As you can see, I went through a big COLD STEEL phase about 15 years ago lol. I was using junk knives before that, bought the recon tanto at an army store, and was off to the races after that.
Cold steel will always have a fond place in my heart, but todays current offerings are not as nice as what was available back then. I almost grabbed an ad-10, but ended up not. I may grab one someday since theyre cheap.
I like the look of the 4max folders, as they are absolute TANKS, but 300$+ seems a bit crazy...

My latest fixed blade knife purchase was a Lionsteel T5 (my first from that company). A really gorgeous, comfortable to hold knife in a mystery steel (Niolox) which I've never tried before. Once winter ends and I'm out in the wilderness more, I will put it to good use

But anyways, yeah....what do I use a folding blade for? Nothing really. Occasionally I assassinate an amazon box or two but I can do that with anything. I cut food with them occasionally (the spydercos are great for that).

I suppose its like asking a woman why they wear jewelry: it serves no purpose to them.
Women like jewels: Men like KNIVES.
