Name some QUALITY titanium flipper knives <$500

Considering grabbing an olamic rainmaker instead of the wayfarer. It is a BIG boy. I like that it is closer to the 4" mark then the standard 3.5" mark (4.18" blade, 9.77" overall length)
I did the style on this one.

Not much information out there on this one however

We'll see. For us working Americans, we have our $1200 coronavirus stimulus checks coming over April, so I'll definitely grab one of the two

Our ECONOMIC KNIFE STIMULUS checks ;)

I'm thinking of doing the opposite in terms of size. While I do like the Rainmaker, it's on my list, the lil' Whippersnapper will probably be the next Olamic for me. Then I think I'll start looking into a Spartan Harsey. Moving through the USA made mid-techs, I've got Hinderer and Reeve's covered well enough.

The Whippersnapper is incredible, bought a base model at SMKW waiting for the opportunity to upgrade. In the meantime I can't stop flipping it and have everyone asking me on the phone what the noise is they hear in the background.

I have a Medford Proxima. It's not the fastest flipper, but it is darn cool and the base model is less than $500. Great quality, fit & finish and different from what everyone else is carrying. Here is a pic of a base model and also mine. They come in many varieties.

That is a great price on a full Ti 1/2 track, the ano looks pretty good too. I've got a Wharnie 1/2 track which I love. If it were a spearpoint, slicer, or pretty much any other grind than tanto I'd probably go for it. I wish the fuller were more useful for back-side flicking. I lightened up the detent on mine so that I could but lock-up suffered so I changed it back. I can do it about 1 in 4 tries, not really worth it but it would be much cooler if it were usable for opening the blade. Kind of the same w/the 247, the hole in the blade should allow you to open from the back side, you can but it aint easy. You have to get you finger stuffed in there and really think about it as you try and launch it, I can do it a few times before my finger can't take it anymore. The callous is growing though so maybe someday soon :)

I have the plain 247 that I bought about 2 years ago from KC. If I would have known that I could get torx pivot if I purchased direct from Olamic, I would have. I was unaware of this but I am sure that had the option 2 yrs ago. Still love it though.

Just saw the rainmaker is a liner lock.

Yuck. Scratch that. I'm done with liner locks for awhile

Shame. Really checked alot boxes for me

Vargo SOBATA-398 Sintered Ti blade and Ti scales. My current EDC. Haven't had to sharpen it yet. The blade is a sintered Ti+ceramic matrix. Seems to work well, no chips yet. Cuts well, cardboard, plastic, raw meat etc

I think I've made a decision. Going to grab an Olamic rainmaker(a framelock one). I have to transfer money to another bank account at noontime to do it. Grabing it from DLT trading.

What do you think? Good? Bad?

Good bro sorry for the late response coating Handle a red and black and want the compound harpoon blade go luck enjoy it let me know how you like it.

good thread, but it still bothers me to see such high quality knives being used mostly for pocket bling. (of course, everyone should do what they want). I'm just making the general point: if you spend a lot on a high quality knife, ... use it :)

to put it another way...
imagine learning that 99% of high end porsches and lambos have never gone faster than 40mph? something about the inherent 'waste' of not using something past 5% of its potential bothers me

I got nothing to use it for tho lol. I work in manufacturing with my hands, but no knife needed

Anyways, I'm about to head out shortly, then stop at the bank

A part of me is whispering in my ear "get the large sebenza 21 black micarta insingoooo instead"

#$!@ me. I know regardless of what I do, a week later I'll wish Id gotten the other one

The Sebenza will never be a bad play as long as knife collecting exists. But if you are specifically looking for a flipper/action piece, Olamic isn't going to disappoint you in the realms of both quality and action (Not to mention comparable levels of support). If you end up not liking your Rainmaker, Eugene will make sure you wind up with a model you're happy with.

Ordered! If all goes to plan, it should be in my hands by noon tomorrow

I just got a plainish one from an online store. I'm not big in the crazy customization stuff

I'll let you guys know how it is tomorrow (if it makes it)
