When making your contrivance, it is important to give some thought to the material to be used. Versatility is the name of the game here folks! I elected to use fatwood for mine. Not only does it make for a superb tube topper popper, you can also use it to help you light up your fire pit on cool evenings.

Robin, Kirk and Kevin, thank you for the compliments.
I keep telling myself that this was the last time working with olive wood. Your hands hurt after whittling out the rough shape, cutting along the wavy grain is a pain and it clogs up sandpaper and files. But it keeps happening because it's so pretty. :D

And a thanks to Charlie, I love this kind of thread. It's really fun to watch the creativity of others :)

I can't hope to compete with most of the entries here, so will not attempt to.

I will say, however,

1) I'm still laughing at Meako's entries. He once again gets a "A" for effort, no matter what the outcome.

2) I laughed right out loud at this sequence of two pictures, and all I have to do is think of the first picture and I start giggling again.

As for the contest itself (just for fun, not an entry-- as if that makes a difference given the others!):

A. If and when I should have my own tube-top-leverager-device, I shall call it: Frank.

There it is! I wondered why my kitchen table was listing to the east!:D

Seriously, another great design, Rusty! There are so many in this thread!!
I eagerly await the next one!!

I leave for Oregon, dark and early tomorrow!
I think I will leave this thread open until I return on Monday, and give everyone more of a chance to fulfill their imaginations!!!

Are you doubting my skills here, that I couldn't have turned that roughed-out fish-stick into the beautifully-shaped and painted rainbow trout?

I'm deeply offended. You obviously lack the imagination of a philosopher ;)

:D

Cheers!
Daniel

What I lack in philosophical imagination (or more rightly, its misapplication in this instance), I make up for with a good sense of humor.

Ha!

"Roughed-out fish-stick."

Lawd.

Yer killing me, here.

(Still laughing.)

I'm thinking "The Hornblower" or "Top Dog".

Sturzi - you are an extraordinary craftsman. You have taken my unexpressed thoughts exactly and rendered them ever more so craftily and elegantly than I could ever imagine. (I mean if I sat down and tried to do it...)

This so called monster of a thread is in dire need of a bump :)

Here's a silly little Sunday project: The Tube-O-Matic for lazy people!
Insert tube, push button, done :D

Obviously not a second entry, just thought someone might get a kick out of it :p
