Native 5 - the perfect pocket knife?

I'm pumped to see how you like it!

Dude, I love it.

I've had my G10 Native 5 in my pocket since Monday night when it arrived. Amazing knife. I don't want anything else in my pocket now. It's thinner by a little than the Native 5 LW. The Native has just always been an amazing knife, but this one takes the cake. What a great knife. I find no flaws at all with this knife. Love it.

David, I got mine this week as well. I absolutely love it! Mine is not a "flicking" knife but it is so smooth to open. I really love my PM2 but I have trouble deciding which to go with sometimes.

Quick desk shot of mine. I carry the LW in my 5th pocket; it's just handy to have a SpyderEdge on me. The 5 G10 is designated for "office carry" but it may see more time than that. :)

Just received my first Native today. I went with the LW s35vn. First impressions are great! Fits my medium hands even without using the choil, but just barely. Ergo's are awesome on it. Can't think of a knife that has s35vn for $80 like this one. It's smooth to open and shut, but not a flicker by any means. So far I'm digging it. We all get so caught up in these Ti framelock flippers but in reality a knife like the LW Native is more than enough for most of us.

I got a Native 5 LW a couple months ago and I couldn't agree more with you. I have other knives that I like more for sure but man this Native is really all I would ever need. Back locks like the Native's are just as much a pleasure to use as a framelock flipper IMO.

Great pic. I now have a G10 one, a LW one, and next I want a full SE LW. Great knife.

What's interesting about it is it's a small but stout knife I'm not left with feeling like I need more knife the way I feel about the DF2 which is a very likeable knife but I didn't just get on with it...

The native allows for better purchase in the actual cutting of things for me.

Is the factory listing of the weight at 3.7 oz accurate? It seems on the heavy side for a knife this size. Has anyone put it on a scale to check?

No scale but that's about accurate. It's a little less than my PM2 in hand. Doesn't bother me one bit though. :)

Sounds about right for a .125" blade, large handle, liners and g10.
The LW version is listed at 2.5 oz.

The Native line has always intrigued me but I never could get myself to pull the trigger on one. May have to try one out one of these days in between the Stretch and the BM940.

Thanks. The Persian 75 G10 and the Caly 3 are both lighter than the g10 Native, but the small Persian has a thinner blade, and the Caly 3 has a CF handle.
A Native with CF would be nice, but with a S35v blade.

I need to make a list on how many PERFECT Spyderco folders there are.

Yeah, I think that's really where it's at.

I've had one Native, an S30V FRN I got at Walmart. How could I not, for $39? What a crazy deal. My wife adopted it eventually, but it is a great knife and I could happily go back to carrying one.

Except I'd have to stop carrying my Sage to do that, and I don't want to. :)

Hmm I really wanted to love my s110v g10 native... But it just didn't work out. Maybe it was the back lock, or maybe the in hand ergonomics, but it just wasn't an instant hit. To me the delica ergonomics work much better.
But I do enjoy this thread quite a lot for all the nice pictures and replies.
