The ding is enough, and I wouldn't call it "tiny." It's pretty significant imo. I'm not sure how you could have missed it after even a cursory inspection. You must have dropped the knife at some point. Not having inspected a knife carefully doesn't explain memory loss, and it's the responsibility of the seller to sufficiently inspect the knife either way. You seem to have checked the knife more carefully after it was returned and before refunding the money than you did before taking his money to begin with. I'm a lot more sympathetic to an upset buyer than I am a seller who takes issue with how the rightfully upset buyer expresses their frustrations, after not caring enough in the first place to inspect a quite expensive knife properly let alone clean a clearly well-carried knife before selling it.
Regardless of who is right I'd probably just cut my losses, refund the money, and stop arguing about it. I don't think it's a good look.
Edit: I didn't even realize the knife is relisted with the updated pictures but no mention of the actual complete lack of function I see in the video of it screeching like a "banchee." That is utterly incomprehensible to me. That really suggests to me that the seller is completely without scruples, and I don't know how anyone on earth could trust their side of the story at this point. Nobody but the two involved can know the exact details but that's pretty wild to relist it without mentioning that the knife is apparently not functional any more, seems like not being forthcoming about it having been dirty and dinged up and heavily carried the first time around would fit right in.
since i have common sense and can follow a clear point i'm pretty sure you and other can do the same if you choose too. the fact that many are not can't just be coincidence/attributed to total dummies. so this means they and maybe you have a reason why you all are confusing the real issue.
NOTE; i will say hits for the last time. i had no issue with his refund reasons and i acknowledged them all. i also thanked him as already mention to make sure i do a closer inspection on old knives carried in pocket. did you read any of that dude ? cause if you are posting as you are but are ignoring relevant details as to my honesty and sincerity then that's you fault alone and anyone else who fails to do so.
he's not getting a refund because he did something while the knife was in his possession to have stop working etc. etc. knives do not "DRASTCIALLY" change their condition or ability to function as intended all by themselves. I'm NOT GOING TO DO A REFUND IF YOU SEND THE KNIFE BACK LIKE THAT ABD EXPECT ME TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHY SOMETHING SO UNCHARACTERISTIC WOULD HAPPEN all of a sudden!
This dude was jerking my chain the whole time in our conversation by phone but i didn't realize he was setting me up for failure in a very slick way.
he was testing my intelligence to see if i would accept his scenarios of explanation. and he did so in a shameful way. always saying "yeah i know, and you're right... each and every time" yet, he still kept doing it, fishing for something that would work.. that says a lot all on it's own. it also says he knew exactly what he was saying and why. he's a 20 yr veteran here and although he might act stupid as we all do sometimes, he is not dumb. his intention to obfuscate this who situation is very clear if you can read and discern without assumptions nor bias or prejudice. which should focus on what we both have said and how we both have said it. i have not once tried to talk slick like he has been doing to once again obfuscate the issue so he can get over on me.
So, again stop trying to make the reason why he shouldn't get a refund about his original reason for the return. This is simply not the reason i will freely give a refund to him nor anyone when they return an item in non-working condition that makes loud noises.
i need not speak on anything else as it's already redundant. maybe folks who are real en and show know favoritism will appreciate the 'trro" i have told right from the jump ad i will continue to do so. myself and Mr. GOLD SPOKE IN THE PHINE ABOUT ME HAVING A NASTY HABIT OF TELLING THE"TROOF" = A VERSION OF TRUTH I CREATED AND NOW EMPLOY IN Conversations to differentiate between what i'm using an the "truth" we all grew up with that is now routinely distorted, manipulated, ignored or hidden. My version = 'TROOF"
As far as my honesty and integrity both i am an extremely high functioning dude in those areas and have been my whole life.
example = told Gold i would deliver on a certain day. the day i had an MTA ID/PASS appt. i was afforded a round trip ride to and from that location though my VA Hudvash social worker.
the main post office wasn't too far down the street from the office location. so i had planned to catch a bus down to the post office to deliver Gold's package as i promised. got out and it was cold as ... i saw a bus but i was far enough away that i didn't think the driver would wait for e while i rolled there in a walker. brand new but hurts my arms and shoulder mucho.
anyway, i said i will just call a Lfyt how much could it be. i also couldn't entertain the bus options longer because i had a limited time to return back to the MTA office location for my return ride home.
well, the LYFT cost me extra because it changed my location i entered to once it suggested. i had to tell the driver where we were going. he said but the location is... another post office in a different part of town. that was almost $12 approx. i do have the receipts for both trips. i mailed the knife and took a picture of the receipt, sending it straight to his phone. and the tracking number etc was circled. yet he asked the day before expected delivery if i have a tracking number. i'm like dude i gave that to you the day it was mailed... he obviously didn't pay attention. i resent the photo but zoomed in so he could see it even better. mind you the original postal receipt can also be clearly seen and made bigger to zoom in as well. i still sent it though and what's still in the message stream when i did? the original receipt as well as other texts messages and photos i sent directly to him.
so, all told those Lfyt rides cost me at least $20 dollars or more. i didn't have to do that to post that knife. i could have easily said i will post it another day. btw it wouldn't cost me anything to post another day and i wouldn't need to pay for a Lfyt driver. traffic was terrible for such as short distance and that con=tributed to the higher cost.
i told him on the phone about me doing that. yet, i told him why I did it because i had promised him i would post that day.
doing exactly as i had told him even though it cost me unexpected loss of funds. I
DETAILS might be long winded, but they are essential/important at least to me when i speak.
