Doing a carnival cruise just booked for the summer, and they allow knives under 4” blade length believe it or not, I did check. What would be a good blade to take? Im thinking obviously something quite stainless for ocean and beach time. And something fairly inexpensive incase theft, loss or whatever. Thought about taking my bm triage due to the blade stainless quality but thinking maybe time to try a salt series! Any opinions would be appreciated

I can't imagine how much you are going to use a knife on a cruise like that, even off the boat.

I would think, at most, pretty mundane stuff, opening beers and snacks, cutting the price tag off a new hat, etc.

How about one of the locking Vic SAKs?

I don't see your trip turning into a "shipwrecked and lost on a desert island" scenario.

Have fun!

This^

But, never pass up an excuse to get another knife. I would go for small Salt series.

Spyderco salt. They are great. I've had the salt 1, dragonfly and pacific salt. All are very nice depending what size you want. SAK would be another good choice if you didn't have to have locking.

I would look at the Spydiechef or one of the other offerings in LC200N.

It is just as corrosion resistant as H1, but has better plain edge wear resistance, near S30V, but with higher toughness.

It wasn’t intended to be topic of survival on a vacation scenario, just it would be a fun interesting topic or like aleforme said maybe an excuse for a new knife! Lol.

I imagine there will be many people around you. I am with marci that a SAK should be more than sufficient and the least intimidating.

Personally I would go with something to enjoy eating with! Can you only bring one knife?

That was my point. If I was going on a cruise, I think scissors, screwdriver, cap lifter, etc would be all I might use. Hence the locking Vic SAK suggestion.

No limits on how many. Just no fixed or dive knives carried by passenger, those must be checked n or something with security, I don’t wanna mess with all that. Budget let’s say 100.00 or so if lost or whatever it wouldn’t hirt to awful bad!

I love my Pacific Salt for a large knife and my Ladybug Salt Hawkbill for a small knife around water.

The Pacific Salt is what I would personally bring. If it doesn’t get stolen or lost, it is a good addition to any collection IMO.

I think this is winner so far, was thinking this or the delica sized one

I would take a SAK mini champ. toothpick/tweezers/bottle opener/fingernail repair. Yes its not locking but it has handy tools plus it wont draw any attention.

Then I recommend a Leatherman skeletool for the same reasons marci recommended the sak. But the leatherman has a better main blade to me, as well as pliers.
