Need opinions for a cruise knife!

I recommended the One Hand Trekker from Vic based on your criteria, but really, I wouldn't carry that with me if I were going.

The cruise may say 4" or less, but some locales may have different rules. I prefer to travel with something that's as universally legal as possible. Something like a Deluxe Tinker or a Leatherman Squirt.

They provide a ton of utility and have non-locking blades under 3" that require two hands to open. As close to borderless as you're going to get. I took a Tinker on my one cruise experience and had no rust issues. Just wiped/rinsed it a couple times a day.
I also took a Tinker with me on my first foreign trip and depended on it heavily. Even had it in my swim trunks when I was snorkeling. It was in fact my very first Vic SAK. That was the day I almost got heat stroke and I'll never forget it. I have to admit I was a little concerned when a moderate sized barracuda cruised past me and checked me out. Not a salt water guy here.

The One Handed Trekker would be a good one as would some of the other large ones like the Dual Pro X. But those are getting a bit large regardless of the 4" thing and I wouldn't carry one as it would get in the way. What's that lump thing in your shorts?

Sounds like a good way to get some free drinks.

Not a bad idea. That wasn’t aimed at you guys that actually contributed to the thread it was towards the I don’t need one and stealing steak knife comments.

When on a Carnival cruise I bring my S30v Blur. Good knife and cheap enough (to me at least) that if it's lost/stolen it wouldn't hurt as much as a ZT. Going on another cruise in April......

I still cannot believe on a knife forum that people are saying you will not need a knife. Being on the cruise ship is like being in a resort town. When i went on my cruise, i never thought about edc knife, i just put it in my pocket just like every other day and went to the disembarkation point. Knife people on this forum tend to believe a knife is an essential edc item like a wallet and phone. I cannot imagine that these people saying steal or take a steak knife would follow their own recommendation.

Nothing wrong with taking a knife on a cruise. I've taken one on every cruise I've been on. They're just as handy as any other occasion. I usually take whatever my normal EDC is - generally a 3" folder of some sort and a 1" 'keychain' knife or MT.

One thing I always did, getting on/off at ports, was put the knife in my backpack, wife's purse, or whatever bag we were carrying for the day. Security never gave it a second glance going through screenings that way.
