Need some prayers for myright Jr.....

Prayers sent. I hope this resolves itself soon, and for the better. :o

My thoughts will be with you and your family Myright, I've been there too and suspect the parents might suffer more than the child in these circumstances, mentally anyway. Hang in there and take care of each other, we're all hoping for a speedy recovery for the little guy.

I hope your son is better today, let us know how things go. Prayers. Gene

I'll be including you and yours in my prayers tonight, so sorry to hear that your little one has the MRSA bug. It is a nasty infection I know, had it twice 2 years ago after my immune system was compromised from rabies shots.

Please tell your wife to not place blame on herself....as another poster has indicated, this particular type of bug lives in about 1/3 of the adult populations olfactory (nose) mucus membranes. This could have come from a number of others. It typically affects folks with weekend immune systems, young folks who congregate in locker rooms (sports), elderly folks....etc......

Your wife did the right thing by getting him to the hospital quickly.

Wishing and Praying for a Full and Speedy Recovery,

Bob,

Hershey, PA

Hey fellas - I'm man enough to say that I shed a tear reading all the support you guys are sending our way. I'll be sure to let my wife know of all the people thinking of us.

I came home for a bit to try and catch a bit of sleep and take care of the pooch. Family will be taking care of her from here on out.

The swelling has subsided a bit but the right side of his face is still really read and a little puffy. It's hard and still a little hot. A plastic surgeon is going to come visit him and see if they are able to drain and culture to see what this bug really is. We are lucky in that we have a good pediatric hospital fairly close to us so they only service children which is nice.

All the blood tests came back ok - nothing too far out of the ordinary.

Since they aren't 100% sure if it is MRSA he is in isolation so we can't leave the room with him at all. That part sucks. He slept probably about a total of 2 hours last night night broken up into 30 minute stretches and has watched more TV in the past 12 hours than he has in his entire first 11 months of his life.

I'll tell you guys what though - kids are troopers. He just wants to play and doesn't have a care in the world right now, which is reassuring.

His IV got clogged this morning and they had to place another one in, while I was gone of course so my wife got to experience that one on her own.

Doc says we are going to be there at least another 24 hours so they can continue to monitor him so I'll be hanging out with the family in our tiny room :) I've got to take a picture of the crib they have in the room, it's a freakin' metal cage. It looks earily similar to the crate my dog sleeps in....

Being a pediatric hospital it helps to put things in perspective. There are lot of sicker kids there and we are lucky and blessed that the treatment seems to be working and he seems to be getting better.

I'll talk to ya'll soon

I hope things go well. It sounds like you child is receiving great care. Best wishes.

I remember having to hold down the wee one while the docs put the IV in when he was really young. He wouldn't even look at me for a week and I felt guilty as hell.

Hard times all long forgotten by him and he has just turned 9. Here hopes you have the same good fortune we did.

Glad to hear he's on the mend

Good luck to you & yours.

Hey man glad to hear the little one is doing better. I KNOW he is going to pull through. My thoughts are with your family.

Dunno how I missed this thread, but prayers and positive thoughts are with you and your family. It probably looks bad, but on my Peds rotation I saw TONS of MRSA and typically they do just fine once it's drained and antibiotics are started. Hopefully you guys will be back home in a few days.

Myright, glad to hear things are looking better. Sounds like you got some first class Doctors on the case. You and family will continue to be on my mind till the little guy is 100%.
