Need some prayers for myright Jr.....

Best Wishes from Ontario. I haven't been in BF much lately, so I read the whole thread just now. Nobody's more vulnerable than when their children are affected - you just feel so helpless. As a father and grandfather, I can certainly relate.

However, it sounds like things were caught in time. Looking forward to a positive update.

That's a father's worst nightmare...prayers sent and I hope your son recovers quickly.

Glad myright Jr is doing better. Kids are really tough. My Mom works at a childrens hospital and has seen kids pull out of situations were they were given almost zero chance by the doc's. Having Mom and Dad there helps so much! Glad things are going better.

Hey fellas - well we're aren't home yet. I popped in for a bit to take care of some things and am heading back.

Good news is my man is sleeping now. He didn't sleep more than a few winks for a while, but slept for a 7 hour stretch last night and took some naps so far today. He's got his appetite back and the swelling is going down. The redness is still there and, but is getting lighter and the hardness seems to be subsiding.

They opted not to do a CT scan since the swelling is going down with antibiotics and they didn't want to cut him open on his face. The only thing that sucks about that is that we'll never know what it is. They presume MRSA, but without being able to test it aren't 100% sure. I guess who really cares what it is as long as it goes away and doesn't cause any other issues with him.

We're still in isolation so we aren't able to take him for any strolls around the hospital but he is hanging in and being a trooper about it. He's planted in front of the TV and loves checking out everyone that is coming in and out of the room.

My wife is going good as well. She can't help but to feel a bit guilty regardless if it was her that exposed him or not. I keep reminding her that he's around dirty kids and adults every time he steps foot out our front door so it could have came from anywhere.

Thanks again for all your support, guys. It's really great to log in for a bit and see all the posts.

Hopefully the next time I'll post little man will be at home with us.

I had to take my son up to Johns Hopkins on last Thursday because his other Doctor thought she saw something that would have meant he only had a max of about six more years to live. No kidding. Everything turned out all right but he still has to have a brain MRI. I remember having him at Hopkins when he was about five days old and the tubes and needles and everything else going on and he was just so frail and just screaming. I hope your little man does perfect and comes home soon...kids will take years off of your life in a hurry. :)

Glad to hear he's doing better and getting some rest bro. I am sure your wife is needlessly beating herself up over it, but like you said; it could have came forom anywhere. You're both great parents and love him very much and that's what counts.

Kids get sick, its part of growing up. I know this infection isn't the same as a cold, but my wife (school teacher) has taken home plenty of germs and gotten my daughter and I sick before. It is what it is... Doesn't make her a bad mother. I hope your wife doesn't beat herself up to bad.
Thanks for checking in bro.

Glad to hear the little guy is doing better. It's also nice to see how you supported your wife and her feelings on the situation.

Kids being sick are a difficult time for everyone in the family.

I hope to keep hearing that things are getting better and you and your family are still in our thoughts and prayers.

Thats great to hear!! Progress is progress....just shows he is a fighter and he knows he has loved ones watching over him and professionals doing there best:thumbup:

Good to hear the little guy is getting some much needed rest!!!!

Still in our parayers and thoughts.

Prayers from our house for you little one. I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I never knew what worrying was until our little girl was born. My wife is a med surg nurse at an LTAC, so she is exposed to MRSA all the time. We also worry about her bringing it home, but like others have said, it is everywhere regardless. I hope he gets better soon!

My apologies for catching this late, and my very best wishes for a speedy recovery for your son! I'm very sorry to hear of it. As others have stated, resistant bacteria are commonplace (unfortunately). If it is MRSA from a hospital, it's actually better than being MRSA from the community (just meaning it's not the worst case bug, if that's it).

Edited to add: If I can be of use with any drug information that medical personnel weren't clear on, please feel free to drop me a line.

Thanks for the update. I'll keep praying for a speedy and full recovery. It is great to hear that he is doing better. Are you and the wife getting any rest? You can't help him if you are exhausted.
