Need to lose some weight....who's with me?

Warm weather and beer has disrupted my progress, however I'm still working out and eating healthy. Just haven't lost a whole lot. About 230 right now.

A few weeks ago, I went to the doctor for some complications and they ran some tests. I found out that I have a "gluten sensitivity". Insert dramatic eye roll here. When I asked what that meant, I was informed that I shouldn't be eating foods that contain wheat, rye and barley among other things. No more pasta, beer or Reubens. :( It's difficult but it has it's perks, I've steadily been loosing about a pound a day and my knees feel quite a bit better since I've been off the gluten. I had gained a few pounds back on before I went gluten free and those are long gone again. Well, that's my update. I'm glad to see that you guys are doing well and still trucking along with your weight loss. Keep up the good work everyone!

Great work guys. Keep it up. I've not been watching my food intake too closely and you can tell. I was down to 180 but gained a few back and now at 184-185 been there for a couple of weeks.

At least working outside seems to have kept me from adding anymore to it.

:D:D

Yeah, I think eliminating most wheat from your diet will only do good things for you. That stinks about the pasta, beer, and reubens though. Congrats on your progress, sounds like your highly motivated, and that is what it takes.

It's amazing the number of issues that simple weight loss addresses.
I am "border line" diabetic (type 2) so have been on Metformin, have dealt with reflux and Barrett's oesophagus (on Previcid), have had numerous knee surgeries (last being an ACL replacement)so I live on Aleve.
At the beginning of the year my Orthopaedic Doc, said my knee issues had progressed to the point where I am a candidate for a "knee replacement". It is just a matter of how long I can endure the pain. A statement the Doc made really resonated with me and convinced me to drop some pounds. "Every pound you lose is equivalent to 4 pounds off your knee joints"
By dropping 25lbs +, I have effectively lifted 100+ from my knees.
My GP Doc says my blood sugar and triglycerides are in normal limits and my reflux has disappeared.
It's all good:thumbup:

That is awesome man. I was in the same boat, acid reflux, knees hurting, had a pinched nerve in my back and leg. I've lost 65 lbs since last summer, and my knees feel great, acid reflux is nearly gone, and my leg doesn't go numb anymore. Back feels good too. That stat is interesting, that means I took 260 lbs off my knees. No wonder they feel good!

It's amazing how much better you feel once you start to lose weight. Things just seem so much easier than they used to, joints don't hurt as much and fatigue is pretty much gone. I didn't realize how much of a difference a little bit of weight being gone would make, but it is incredible how much better I feel. Keep up the great work guys!

Great job, Sue!

WooHoo!!! Someone to drink bourbon with T and I at Blade!! :)

Bourbon isn't that bad, so I may just have to indulge you on this offer. I am pretty partial to rum though, so I may stick to that.

Time to drag this thread back out before we get too deep into summer.

Last post was just prior to Blade......and I know in my case, I've indulged....BIG TIME:eek:
Just reliving Blade...I feel the need to loosen the belt a notch (Fogos, induction dinner buffet, intensive drinking sessions)

With the 4th coming up this weekend, I thought I'd check in and see how everyone else is doing.

In my case, my last post prior to Blade was 5/17 and I was at 247.1
I always weigh in on Mondays. 6/30 I was at 245.

Fizzled a bit...........but getting back on track this week.
