Need to lose some weight....who's with me?

Upon weigh in this weekend, I was certain that I would see an increase. I was pleasantly wrong, I hadn't lost any but I hadn't gained any either. I cheated more than I should have and not seeing that number go up was a good sign for me.

This morning I busted out the bicycle and took it for a ride. I went about 12 miles. Looking back, it was about 12 miles more than I think I should have gone. My poor legs are quite sore. :( It's a good pain but oye does it sting to move.

Haven't posted here in a couple weeks. I got really sick and was out of work for over two weeks. Doc couldn't give me an exact diagnosis but believes it was something from a tick bite. Fever of 102-103 for 13 straight days. It was horrible to say the least. I didn't eat very much during that time but I'm feeling better and am back to work now. Went for a run tonight, first exercise in over three weeks, it felt good but wow...I'm hurting. When I got on the scale today I was 173. I've kept up the healthy eating now have to start getting back in the gym routine. From 191 to 173. My jeans do not fit at all now, had to buy new!! Also had to attend a wedding and put on my suit for the first time in over 8 months....like wearing a garbage bag! Had to get it taken in a bit. My waist has gone from 36 being tight and now I'm in a loose 32. Still struggling with the gut. I've done mostly cardio and running type exercise so I think I'm going to have to change something up. Anyone have any advice on how to target the belly? Keep up the good work everyone....seeing the results makes it all worth it.

It would be interesting to tally the total weight loss of the group to date. There has been a lot of weight shed by this group.
As my wife reminded me, I've already surpassed my 5 month old granddaughters total weight. By the time Blade rolls around, there will be several folks missing..LOL..weight-wise

Down 20 of my 38 goal

Awesome that you guys are sticking with it! I love seeing the numbers come down. Keep it up!

I would be curious to know if everyone on the original list is still participating. If you haven't posted on this thread lately and are still actively trying to lose weight please post, doesn't matter if you've lost much or any, just want to know who is sticking with us.

:D:D

Well the weight loss has come to a halt but the inches are coming off. Put on a re pair of pants that a month ago were tight. Started walking around the house and noticed that my butt was getting a draft. LOL They were literally falling off. Now that is a good feeling.

Im down 17lbs,and about 2.5" around my waist in 8.5 weeks. My goal was 20lbs in 10 weeks. I have a Men's Physique competition in NYC in 1.5 weeks, and would like to step on stage @around 162lbs. I'm currently 164. Will post before/after pics when the 10 weeks have come to completion!

Down from 235 to 225 since this thread started. Doing 10 miles on high resistance on the stationary bike and sometimes an elliptical machine afterwards in a sweat suit.

For those interested in doing another Spartan 30 Challange, today starts 30 days of 30 push ups. Who's with me?

I don't generally hang around the busse forums but I saw this thread and thought I'd check it out. I'm working on losing weight right now as we'll, and my end date happens to be just after blade, for a vacation in California.
I'm having a lot of luck with myfitnesspal.com. It's just an easy way to figure out your caloric needs and Marco nutrients and then keep track of what you consume. Super super easy. I can't recommend it enough, and it's free. I just started using it about a week ago, I'm staying on track and Ive lost 2 pounds just like I'd planned.

Free apps are the best!

I weighed myself for the fun of it at the gym tonight and I'm down a little over three more pounds since Saturday :D That makes for a total of twelve pounds so far. :)

Awesome. Congrats on ur progress, Chris and Lora! And I'd Def agree, tracking macros is the most effective way to regulate bodyfat!

I've read that the best time to weigh yourself is first thing in the morning so that your not weighing the food and water you've consumed as well. Otherwise it's not a true comparison.

Thanks Kyle. I've got about 20 lbs to go, but plenty of time.

Congrats on your weigh in drop Lora!

I weighed in yesterday and stayed even still at 180 (15lbs) total weight loss but last week no loss. I usually hit a plateau within about 5 lbs of my goal. (at least that is my excuse ;) )

I'm always amazed at how well the body can adapt to new situations. It would seem that weight loss should be a simple function of calories consumed vs. calories burned. Turns out that we're naturally better survivors than we give ourselves credit for.

In previous weight loss cycles I've found it necessary to routinely make changes to my diet and exercise routine to avoid those plateaus.

Keep at it, make a change and fight fight fight for those last few pounds.

Congrats to everyone involved in this thread. I hope everyone makes their Trough fighting weight for Blade.

About two years ago on an easy hike, embracing my awkward chubbiness:

A few hours ago after a Spartan Race:

I am pretty proud right now. Was a measly 20 pounds lost between those two photos, though, so I still have a lot more to go (but in my defense, 25% drop in body fat percentage by weight--I'm 192.5-ish pounds now).

Any love for martial arts in here? I'm picking up a couple to supplement the gym workouts. Krav maga for the practicality and extra workout, and aikido for the discipline and spiritual stuff. There's so much you can do in fitness and staying athletic that everyone's bound to find something they like.

This weekend at the show there was no way to keep up the health food "diet" or the exercise routine that I have been on for the past few months. I thought for sure that I would gain some of those lost pounds back, but I was surprisingly wrong. I didn't lose any, but I was the same weight as before I left for Kentucky. Now it's time to get back into the routine and see just how much I can lose before Blade Show!

I saw Eric at the show and he is looking great! Keep up the great work, Eric! I can't wait to see what everyone looks like when we make it down to Atlanta!
