Nessmuk. Which one and why.

Yeah! Here's my avatar pic:

Bird's eye maple (dyed), brass pins, 1/8" CPMS30V convex grind.

Awesome threads!

I don't really care for the Nessmuk design. I guess it is popular because of the Nessmuk books. I believe it is just a Green River knife that was made cheaply for the old mountain men fur traders. I do have a full flat grind one by Koster that is a modified Nessmuk. This design looks like a good knife for the kitchen or for cutting up game. I was very pleased with the quality of the finished product.

My Dale Chudzinski one is probably my favorite one.

Second would be my Charlie Bradley Culloden Forge one]

Nessmuks are a great camp knife if done right. Thin and with the proper curve to the edge and point.

there are a lot of good knifemakers out there, making some really cool Nessmuk style knives.... if i was going to pick, i would probably also choose Fiddleback... i think his renditions are some of the best out there...

here's a pic of mine, with a few ML's.... it's the top knife...this is one of the first 9 knives that Andy made... i love it..

I'm not sure about the Nessmuk's yet. If I were going to get one to try out, it would probably be one of the new Condor's, just to see if I like the shape, or not.

I don't have much to add here, but I wanted to say that this thread is making me drool. Nice knives!

All the best,

- Mike

I'm still not sure what they are really for but I do know I like 'em.
Since most of my cutting will be camp/cooking chores I think one will work very well.
Freat pics, there are some beautiful examples out there. Please forgive me if I ignore Ariel's. His work is unreal.

Defaultuser made mine (see the pic he posted) and I use it almost every day. I have one by Charlie Ridge and it is a beauty! I will try to find pics...

I'd also like to add that this thread is killing me. I've had a wierd Nessmuk knife obsession for a couple months now, but still haven't been able to afford one.
