I'd also like to add that this thread is killing me. I've had a wierd Nessmuk knife obsession for a couple months now, but still haven't been able to afford one.

I just saw this modern style Nessie:

It looks good, but I still prefer a more traditional look.

Don't have pictures of them all, but have seen interesting ones from:

Fiddleback, Koster, Gossman, Koyote, JK, Charlie Ridge, Breeden, David Farmer, Laconico, SDS, CKE2....Uhm - you know the "usual fellas".....

Here are some I`ve done.

I am not a fan of the Nessmuk design, but my favorite is one made by David Farmer. I have seen the Bark River designs, I think I have owned other ones.

Just thought I'd throw in a version I didn't see.

Koster makes a 1/4" thick 3V nessmuk. It's a far stray from the original design, but was one of the best knives I ever used.

I like that hump on a nessmuk as it is a great spot to choke up on the blade to do some fine tip work, plus on larger ones it adds some nice weight to the end of the blade for chopping. The blade design also makes the Nessmuk a great slicer, be it meat or veggies.

A JK and ML. Both quite small compared to the standard nessmuk.

Snake,

You're a good man!:thumbup::thumbup:

it's gotta be old school, antler handle and carbon steel, prefferably wiht a stick tang. i don't mind the more modern variations, but the blade needs to be THIN, flat ground or hollow ground and no more than 5 inches long. in my mind a nessmuk is a kitchen a skinning knife. The wide blade makes them poor carvers, the thin stock makes them poor choppers but the combination of long thin smopothly curved edge makes them absolutely fantastic kitchen knives.

that's not to say the other knives aren't also great knives, they're just "nessmuk inspired" rather than nessmuks.

Nice Nessmuk's everyone, I've got quite a few I bought off of a seller/Knife Maker on E-Bay his name Is Jeff White, He does mostly Mountain Man/Rendezvous type Trade Knive's, He has a different style's the French Trade Knife and the English Trade Knife and the English LongHunter also a Camp Knife/Bowie, "I'm sure some of you have seen his Work, I know there are some E-Bay Lurker's on the Forum, I think for the price there a Great Knife, I got all of these Knive's without Sheath's for a little over 20.00 and he has Free Shipping, If you watch his Knive's sometime's you can get them for less than 20.00, Two of these are In Cherry Wood and one In Darked Curly Maple, There made of 1095 High Carbon Steel, Here's a link to a Site that carry's his Knive's with the Spec.'s on these knive's, http://www.handsewnleather.com/store/knives/202.html

I have a jeff white nessie, french patch and his huge camp/throwing bowie with Robert Jones leather(that is his site) great 1095 knives and sheaths. Incredible value for the price 50$ with a sheath.
I love the nessmuk style, reminds me of a small butcher knife in fleshing and skinning or kitchen work.

Since we're sharing nessmuk pics, here's one I made from a Russell Green River buffalo skinner blade.

But of course, you could buy a Condor Nessmuk and make sure you like the design :D
And Of course I would say that. Especially when I get down there and tell them to drag that edge back!

While a lot of these are really nice knives, I can't afford any of them. I'll wait for the Condor, especially if Joe gets them to fix the edge.
