i have this little beauty on the way.... it was made by Craig W.. a.k.a. CKE2 here on the forums....

i'm stoked... i love the design of this one.. it got some pretty good reviews too, from folks here in the WSS...:)

Great to see a Nessmuk thread again! I own a Fiddleback and love it. Great camp knife and slicer, comfortable handle. I don't think they have much advantage over other knives per say but the nostalgia and general appeal make it an interesting knife to own.

I've got a couple from Scott Gossman, and really like them. O1 steel, full primary convex grind (almost flat), and convex edge. I converted the edge to a v-grind, and am very happy with them. Very, very comfortable in the hand, and they cut and hold an edge very well!

Just thought I'd throw in a version I didn't see.

Koster makes a 1/4" thick 3V nessmuk. It's a far stray from the original design, but was one of the best knives I ever used.

That's fantastic! I might have to try one of those too...

I thin kFoilist has this one, I got the pic from over at SDS's forum:

Yup, that's mine! I love it, both to admire and to use. Curly maple, black liners, SS pins, 154CM blade. The broad blade really lends itself to splitting kindling and preparing food, but the point is acute enough for finer work too. It's my go-to sheath knife now. The cost was surprisingly reasonable, and so was the wait time.

I own a Koster nessie and I love it, but if I was going to pick one right thise second, I would get a Fiddleback. So far, it has just never worked out that he had one available at the same time as me having money to buy one. Otherwise, I would own one or several by now.

I actually posted a link to the wrong image, that image was of the back side of the the knife, I like this image better, I think it shows it off a little more....

I got to see this knife, at a show, it was really impressive, and exactly the type of thing I would imagine they carried all the way back then.

I make most of mine as one offs now, not really a pattern. I adore andy's fiddleback nessies. They really are nice stuff!

This is my only Nessmuk-style blade. It's unusual to find a James Batson piece, so I had to snag it! It's full convex grind, and cuts beautifully:

I'm sort of neutral on the Nessmuk design - fine for some things, not fine for others. There are other designs I much prefer for all-around camp use. I use the smaller Nessmuk knives, in the photo, the most, probably because they are small. The larger knives stay in the camp box for the camp kitchen.

You have the greatest pictures. Like the knives.

I'm partial to my ML Nessmuk

But of course, you could buy a Condor Nessmuk and make sure you like the design :D
And Of course I would say that. Especially when I get down there and tell them to drag that edge back!
