Nessmuk. Which one and why.

Marion - The companion blade is a Robert Nelson Fish that I bought about 15 year ago. It is ATS-34 and Ironwood, a great little blade. Ilbruche told me that when he made the rig for the Fish and Koster that he liked the Fish so much that he had David Farmer make him one like it...

I love the look of that.

I've got one for sale, so I've been leery of posting anything on this thread that's detailed- don't want to be commercial and I'm NOT being commercial-, but does anyone else have/make a tapered handle nessie style knife? It seems intuitive to me for the type of job you do with the knife, but I've only seen one outside of the 2 I've made.

I'm not sure what you mean. Could you please show me an example?

That is a great looking design. I bet it feels good in the hand too as it would have a natural fit.

I'm still doing those :) I should do more outside of special orders, possibly the best drop edge necker design I've handled. Made one for Leif, too!

Koyote,

I saw that blade on the knifemaker's for sale forum earlier, that's a good looking blade. I would have snapped that up if I were in the market for another nessie, but I'm hoping that you will make a big guy soon....

no worries. I'm really not posting to try and sell it through this thread- just wanna talk about the design. I worked out that handle to give a lot of room for changing grips but leave a lot of push cutting safety in.

I am working on several larger knives ;)

i recently scored this CKE2 nessie from the passaround, in a trade from a fellow forum member...

it's a great little knife.. i really like it... it has been seeing a lot of action these past few days that i have had it... the blade is light and thin, making it a perfect little EDC knife suited for pocket and/or neck carry...:)

I really like the Nessmuk design and I have made quite a few of them over the last 2 or 3 years. I like the ergonomics of the knife and how it naturally puts the cutting pressure on the belly of the blade. Since it is primarily a slicer or skinner, I make a lot of mine with a hollow grind. It's really interesting to see all of variations shown here.

Here are a few of mine

This one is Alabama Damascus and elk

I made this one for my wife from 440C stainless and desert ironwood and fancied it up a bit with some filework. She uses it in the kitchen and loves it for food prep.

A couple of variations with zebrawood

Buffalo Horn. I made one like this for a friend who uses it to flesh buffalo hides and he says it works great for tanning hides.

All of those are really nice but...
