Net To Me

Over half the time if I send a PM and ask that I don't pay the fee the seller agrees.

That's a reasonable form of price negotiating. Sometimes I'm willing to knock 3% off my price, other times I'm not. It never hurts to ask.

I always always skip anything that says net to me, +3%, or PayPal gift.
It's much easier to just include your costs in the price and say that number + shipped. Done deal!

screw paypal money order only. you see that solves the problem. I see that there is a heck of alot of threads about people winning about being ripped off by paypal or the buyers a complaining about paying the extra charge for using paypal. just tell the buyer just pay what you are asking for or go some where else. this is just my point of view.

I understand your view Richard, but a seller is more likely to rip you off when they know you don't have the buyers protection that you get with Pay Pal. Granted, it isn't a perfect science and people still get ripped off using Pay Pal, but it might deter some people.

Why are we still discussing this? Sellers aren't going to stop accepting PayPal unless BF tells them they have to stop accepting PayPal. And sellers aren't going to stop asking buyers to pick up the fees unless BF tells them they have to stop asking buyers to pick up the fees. That's the long and the short of it. Everything else is merely narrative.

Rules without the ability and the willingness to enforce them aren't worth the paper they're written on.

This issue has been under discussion for a long time. If BF were going to amend the rules to address the issue, don't you think they would have done so by now? And is there really anything else that needs to be said that hasn't already been said . . . by myself, included?

I'd suggest we all give it a rest and let Spark make up his mind. I'm sure he's just as aware as we are that the ball is on his side of the net.

You don't have to join in on the discussion. Just don't come back to this thread if you don't want to join in.

Threads like these are the very reason I, and some others I know, no longer add PP fee's onto our sales.

With all due respect, this topic is alive and well for the same reason people post the "Benchmade Griptilian vs Spyderco Endura" threads, or the "S30V vs 154CM" threads in General. Why are you so bothered by a discussion that you are not at all obligated to participate in? If folks want to talk about it, why stifle and extinguish it?

If we followed your ideal of what is worth discussing, the whole forum would pretty much come to a grinding halt. What is left worth discussing? The opinions that may have changed from some people perhaps that felt one way, but changed their mind? Te desire for some new members to understand? Some insight into experiences from folks here? Lots of reasons to be discussed. If it bothers you to such an extent, please feel free to browse other areaas and contribute what you can there.

I see your points. And yes, I'm done discussing this. But before I go, I'll leave you with something Werner Erhard said:

"Life is a game. In order to have a game, something has to be more important than something else. If what already IS is more important than what ISN'T, the game is over. So life is a game in which what ISN'T is more important than what IS . . .

Let the good times roll!"

See you on the other side! :)

I would think that my math is good enough...that I can state "PP $103.00, Purchase of Goods" instead of "$100 PP Gift (add 3%)" or "NET to me."
The KISS principle seems to work okay.
I have purchased knives where the seller stated "$100.00 PP" and then later wrote me and asked me to pay the fees. Perhaps the most important result is that the buyer KNOWS how much money to send to the seller. I really don't care if I pay the fees or not; I want the knife.
I just want to know the total to send.

Some just get tired of the ole dead horse beat down, Im sure you can sympatize :D
There was already some discussion a while back about this. I'm pretty happy with the MT.
Probably nothing much more than the 100's of threads posted over the last few years haven't already covered.

Age old questions are already answered in the dozens of age old threads. ;)

I like my Sebenzas personally. Only have 1 SnG, and it never gets carried. Try searching for Strider vs SnG, you'll find a ton of discussions.

Actually, this thread has already been done before, not very "ultimate"? ;)

I recommend searching through and reading in the MTE section, where all sharpening related questions and discussions are usually had. ;)

many more where that came from :p

I would be curious to see if a new rule came into place that some of the sales will be $xxx for the item and $xxx for shipping to offset the fee's or shipping.

Except none of those examples really apply to RevDevil's sentiments regarding this thread. Posting a new thread to ask a question that has been definitively answered already is a bit different from reviving a constant and hotly debated issue that has the potential to be resolved conclusively. That said, I agree that people should probably just add to an existing thread instead of posting a new one each time this discussion comes up.

I doubt it. Rather than add to the cost of shipping, why not just roll it into the item price?

I see no reason for your post. We can search for things we want to know about, and some need to be reminded of that.

No one is going to do a search about adding PP into their price.

Threads just like this one is the reason I, and several others I know started adding PP fee's in with the price.
It took seeing a couple(or maybe a few) before I started doing it.
