Thanks for the thought, but please keep your hard-earned cash. There are more deserving souls and causes out there. I am not short of knives in general.

Does survive send out knives with insurance?
Definitely file a claim with USPS.. Also contact survive and have them look into the issue.. Maybe they can file a claim if they sent package insured. Also it wouldn't hurt to file a police report (check local laws to make sure package you ordered is legal)

Yeah it does. I don't think I'd donate for a new knife that he won't see for another few years, but maybe I'd be in for a locking mailbox.

I am really sorry this happened to you. I had something similar happen to me with a Busse knife. It was stolen while in the USPS.
 
Yes, best to contact Survive and let them know. Keep the torn up packaging just in case. See what happens when you talk with Survive. They should file the claim. They should instruct you in what to do.
 
Brummie, I couldn't PM you so I contacted Monofletch. I see he has already posted here now, and he is someone that will know. In his PM, he also said:

"First thing I would contact Survive knives and let them know what is happening. They might have better luck with the usps. At least find out what services ie. Insurance, signature, ect. they used. Also, file a complaint on usps.com. Someone at the local post office should investigate."

Don't write them off as a total loss yet my friend!!

It was insured, but only for $200. I'll be happy if I get that back, but I have a feeling USPS will say they delivered it and their responsibility ends there. Survive! directed me to their FAQs, which say that their responsibility ends as soon as the parcel is handed over to the courrier, and told me to file a claim with USPS. I'm waiting for them to send me the information I need to complete the claim form. I'll report back if there's an outcome within a reasonable time.

I actually have a first gen 5.1, plus a couple of other early Survive! knives. Like I said, I am not at a loss for knives in general, but I really appreciate the sentiment in the offers.
 
I think I'd call the shop, see if you can't get a little more help. And find out about the insurance being light. Sorry, not trying to push, just a little surprised by that.

I would think a company would help you in this matter.I know it isn't their fault, but after all - you didn't receive your items! It would be a great PR move in their behalf!
 
It now should be a home insurance claim , file a police report and it becomes a lose on your taxes . May help a little .
 
I would think that S!K should insure the parcel for the full amount. I understand that it drives the shipping costs higher. Between the USPS insurance and the homeowners claim (not sure what your deductible is) you might be able to come close to being whole. Good luck, because I know this really sucks!
 
Did you catch Friday update?

Sounded like most 4.7s will be delivered within a month or so..
 
SURVIVE! Starter orders (March and April) have all shipped. The orders thin out quite a bit after that, so should be through May and June pretty quickly. Will be getting to the Presale orders ASAP.
 
Woo Hoo!!! Got my shipping notice, but dang the Monday Mail holiday won't see it till Tuesday.
Can't wait!

I am in the same boat, but I have three Survive! knives waiting. Gotta wait till Tuesday as it sits at the local Post Office. I swear if that mail lady is late on Tuesday, #%*!#!¥£€

HA! I know the feeling. That 4.1 I got last week, the guy who sent it gave me a tracking number for something he shipped the same morning to another state. Imagine my slight (heart stopping) panic when the shipping status showed it was delivered to Pennsylvania, and I don't live there!! I hate the shipping/waiting on the post office part!
