so perhaps a silly question, but i dont recall if its come up
is the becker knife & tool subforum the place for ka-bar questions/discussions or is it becker only?

just curious

Yes, for now. Ka-Bar inquiries are welcome.

we get many Kabar questions because there is no dedicated Kabar Subforum.

Stay tuned. Who knows what might turn up?

Speaking of staying tuned, I'm not all that in-tune with the gun world.
But a buddy of mine has taken up shooting, and I'm going to start going with him.
Last time I shot regularly, 9mm was $4 a box. $2 to $2.50 when you could catch it on sale by the case. Now, it's $11 to $12.

So.... I dug out my little 22/45 Mark II. Did not even know that the Mark II is now the Mark III.
Called Ruger. Mags are not interchangeable. So I orderd five more factory mags for the Mark II while they still make 'em.
Total of ten for this pistol, so I can shoot 100 rounds without reloading magazines. May pick up a few more if I can find 'em on sale some time.

No BK-10 yet today, but my mags came in.

Fun little plinker. I need to get out and shoot it more.

Got a pair of Riggs Ranger pants today. Just might be the best outdoor pants I've ever had on. Check em out.

i've been looking for some durable, quick dry pants for all weather. i like the price of these alot better than some of the fancy shmancy hiking store brands if they deliver.

I just ordered a couple more pairs. I'm impressed.

hah, funny :) i was looking for Hagloff Fjell pants... and gasped at the price. then i found the Riggs, and figured, eh, they won't fit, but i've lost enough weight, that they fit GREAT. woot.

can buy them locally for about $35 a pair, choice of two colors. good stuff.

am amused by the double knees, and the weird vent on the bottom, haven't figured that out yet.

kevlar lined pockets, leather wrapped pocket trim, these things are rugged, and put many other pants to shame.

going to buy another couple pair soon for office/etc. retire my old office BDUs to hiking/outdoors - they're getting frayed a little.

funny though, getting used to a zipper :>

i'm going to have to see if they make shorts! as it turns out, they do! though not listed on the Wrangler site... amazon has them though, and they cost more than the pants? mmm...

Get her tuned up and it will surprise you Dubz. I love mine.

Already started a bit. Filing off that soft metal, to get to the good stuff, and took a 3M pad on a drill and took the clear coat off. All I've done so far.

No, I don't. I'm just going to sharpen it, and convex the edge. Do you know what type of steel the head is? I couldn't find anything on it besides, "steel" online. I was thinking of bluing it, painting the handle black, and cord wrapping it. Not sure if I will or not yet. I just don't care for the bright stuff to much.

Sanding the handle down and coating with linseed oil is what I do to all mine. I've never found a reason to do anything else. Clear coat and/or paint always caused blisters more easily, in my experience.

That's all I was gonna do as well. But, like I said, don't care for the brighter stuff too much.

Jees, I can't keep up on all the pic requests that I have gotten recently........

Show some crack and everyone wants more :p

Dubz, the 3M wheels will put on a pretty quick shine.
I used a wire brush to take off the majority of rust on my double bit and then hit it with the sanding wheel.
I was hoping to find some stamping under the rust that would identify the axe maker.
Alas, all I found was a 2 1/2 pound stamp, and not even a very good one at that.
Makes me wonder if this is some Pacific Rim or Chinese steel.
Before I put any more time in it, I think I'll just sharpen it up, use it, and see how well the steel holds up.
