If it gets that bad, I don't think a giant worry is going to be Aimpoint versus Eotech.
Here's my honest take on the aimpoint v.eotech thing, I'll be brief, then I'm leaving it alone.
First, they are different. They have different fields of view, different reticles, etc. So there is obviously some personal preference that will be involved for most people. I prefer the aimpoints.
Second, I have never heard any first-hand accounts of issues with aimpoints, but I have heard several with eotechs. If I was looking for a knife and my choices were similar (insert 2 nice custom bushcrafters from different makers) but I had heard that one of them had more end-user issues, I would probably go with the one that has less issues.
Third, for me, the battery life on the aimpoints is a big selling point. Big deal to some? Maybe not. I prefer the aimpoint in this regard also.
In the end it's not a big deal and it's dumb to bash someone for choosing one over the other. But I do think those looking into one or the other should do the research and get the hands-on time to make an educated decision.
