oh, yeah - and Flexxx needs one of those badges.
just sayin'

They would believe it, so you should do it.

I now have a new knife on the way to wait for anxiously... Moose talked me into ordering a Mora Bushcraft Triflex. I don't really know what to expect. I never owned a "cheap but high quality" knife like a Mora, I guess I'll just give it a try.

I really liked the knife a friend of mine showed me on the camp last week that he made with a Mora blade (apparently they also sell "baked" blades with stick tangs), two pieces of bone, leather and some birch burl wood. He's had it for 6 months, using it at work everyday (works in a garden, so lots of plant/wood/cord cutting) and he has never sharpened it. I was extremely impressed how well the blade held the factory edge over those 6 months.

You are going to love the Mora, it excels at pretty much everything but chopping and batoning. Its gets razor charp, holds an edge well, and sharpens easy. I have a clipper and I love it, in fact I am going to be torn when my BK2 arrives beuase I can't see not wearting the BK on my hip but I will be sad the mora gets religated to my pack.

So; how about those (insert local sports team)? I heard they are going to the(incert big game name)!! That's pretty rad right?!

NICE! I LIKE it! Thank you.

the aftermarket scales are pretty nice - if they had been available 3 months earlier, I'd still have a 3....
But they really improve the feeling of the 4 in my hand, almost as good as the old TAK1.

Thank you for the info.

Anybody know what brand this is? At first glance I thought a modded Becker, but its not.

T.H. (Trace) Rinaldi custom Armageddon, upon which the TOPS version is based. Apparently he/it has been around long enough to go out of custom production and be forgotten.

Would appreciate some insight from any of you experienced Beckerheads. I just received a Becker Brute thru ebay. It was not quite as described. I would describe it as very good condition. The coating has worn off for about an inch along the belly of the blade. This was made by Camillus. I paid $215 for it. Based on your experience what do you think of the price? Too much, too low, about right? Thanks for any input.

What was the described condition? Could you post up the Description text and maybe a picture of the knife?
Price is relative to market demand, of course. You're not going to pay retail anymore, and Brutes are especially prone to high prices.
Not too long after Camillus went under, I put a Brute on fleaBay and was stunned to watch it climb to $300.
However, that knife was mint in the box, and that was years ago.

Thanks for the response Guyon. The Brute was listed as used but only very lightly. The one imperfection specified was a slight scratch. This did not penetrate the coating so is nearly invisible unless you look closely. What took me by surprise was the coating having been worn away just above the belly of the blade, along the edge. Not too bad, maybe less than a 16th of an inch in width.. But noticeable. The edge itself looks fine. I failed to pick up on the imperfections from the photos.

The seller was very knowledgeable providing some history of the blade style starting with Blackhawk and up to the present. Given your experience, I think on balance it was a fair price.

On a related note, I paid close to that a few weeks ago to be reunited with a Machax (Camillus)mint in box. Just for perspective, oh yeah...SNARK!

Well, I hope the seller said Blackjack, not Blackhawk, or he wasn't very knowledgeable. :p

N.V.I.S” (Next-Generation Ventilated Integrated System)
This is actually the most comfortable pack I think I have ever used, I got around 10 pounds of gear and 7pounds of water (100oz)
I think it would be great for 30lbs and less....

My Esee 4 is one of my pack knives

I'm 6'3" and have problems with most packs waist straps being to high, not a problem with this one, its perfect length, I recommend this pack for taller guys, Eskabar for quick grab.

I've used alot of back-packs out there, Maxpedition, Kelty, The North Face and a few others, the camelbak is my new favorite pack and just fits me right for once, its light/comfortable carries excellent and is tuff....

I might have to look into that, Flexxx. Used my Camelback Alpine Explorer for an overnighter two weeks ago, and yeah I had too much shit but man I was tore up when I was done. I think I need a stouter CB.

ALSO I was camping with a buddy who's a big hunter, and he brought his Puma Skinner. I had asked him to because I knew he had a Puma and I remembered Becker saying the first knife he bought was a Puma. That skinner was sweet, man. Serious tactile value. Didn't want to give it back to it's owner :)
