i also figured id ask around instead of asking bill himself, since i seem to remember a guy who asked andy about his spalting and he got a good lashing. flying under the radar seems like the better idea
 
simmer some vinegar (acetic acid) to strengthen it and drop the blade in for a while
ferric chloride
lightly mist and dry until the entire blade is coated in orange then wipe down with hoppes or fish oil - repeat until the whole thing is black
sulfuric acid wash
muriatic (hydrochloric) acid wash
nitric acid wash
 
So I have so many pictures to take and post, I need to get off my lazy bahooky and get them on here. I received my BHK Bushcrafter, My Justin King Tasker, My BK7 Azwelke sheath, and I jimped my BK11, all without posting pics. I will have pics up tonight after work. Been crazy buzy getting ready to go back for a couple weeks of R&R!! Oh, I also received my BK10 scout sheath from Nick (aka MyWifeThinksImCrazy) back home. My iwfe says it is crazy nice and shes not usually impressed with knifey things. I will post pics up when I get home!

Clich, that's one hell of a good trade, I was looking at the Maxped Vulture II and compared it to the Rush72, but it's just out of my price range. But for the price of a HEST, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (Rush 72 150, Vulture II 180, HEST fixed 120, all prices in € and the lowest I can find here).

I GOT THE JOB! Some of you might know that I had an interview last week, well I signed the contract today. For the next 3 1/2 years, I'll be an apprentice of metalworking in every way, shape and form that is imaginable. Well, probably no blacksmithing :D

Yeh I was hoping it was a good trade. I didn't know the model so I couldn't look up values but I love it and its really well built, so I was satisfied before I knew what it was. I was kinda worried about quality when I traded it since I got the pack and the shipping cost label said $30! so going off rough value of the HEST less 30 for shipping I was thinking it wasn't the best. But now that I know the model I've done some research and the reviews are awesome.

Congrats on the job Maethor! My buddy just bought a Maxped Mongo or something, he likes it, but I think is debating selling it.
 
Is this guy worth $80? What exactly is it? I don't know much about the older bk2s

Yes it is. Cinci Era Effingham BK2 sterile with grey powder coat. In BNIB condition, I've seen them on the bay for over $200. Probably not the best user, but for a collection piece, they are marvelous.

I saw that earlier, clich... I'm grounded from buying anymore knives until SHOT show 2012 or that Becker would already be mine! Good score, bud!
