got to take my gear on a shakedown hike this afternoon.
Got my squirrel gear goin' on, though in reality I always let 'em be. I want rabbit, 'yotes, or nothin. Which means.... it's always nothin'.
But it was a lovely day and the woods smelled great. I shaved some sticks, split some acorns, yadda yadda.

Jarod - nice pic!
everyone who didn't go to the gathering -- you missed out big time!
And for the sharpening question a few pages back -- according to what we were shown by Jerry Fisk (the guy who designed the BK5, among other things) a 220 grit slack belt, a Norton fine india stone, and a strop is all you need for an edge that will cut free hanging rope (unless you're me), whittle hairs, and chop wood with no ill effects (unless you're the block of wood, of course)

I'm looking into one of the less expensive Kalamazoo grinders already. Those Fisk edges are insane.

nope - cameras were forbidden.
select info only for attendees -- kinda like the incredible melt in your mouth dead cow and muy awesome spicy taters.

;)
kidding -- I suspect there were several cameras going. if no one else posts anything up, check out averageiowaguy on youtube, I'm pretty sure he's serializing the entire weekend.

thanks guys. ive never sharpened a knife to such an edge as i did following that video. Ill never sharpen on my belt sander again. holy crap

I think I may get a few morale patches, where do y'all get yours ? PM me, I don't wanna get anybody in trouble.

So I just got a kydex sheath and I'm noticing that the blade is getting some scuff marks from only a handful of in/out motions. It's not that I'm afraid of getting some character on the blade, just curious if it should be that tight.
