New blade?

Man, these pics are worse than I thought. Anyway, you can see the teeth
missing in the middle and the tip is crapped out as well.

Weird. I am looking right at it. I'll see if I can remember how to log into my photobucket account.

the tip is an easy fix. The blown out serration, just make it a little bigger?

Yea...I am hoping Sal will hop on and give me the word. My OT got cut to nothing (on nearly paycheck to paycheck, that's a big thing) so I don't want to ship it off to get a "no."

Hi Dougo,

What would you like for me to say that hasn't already been mentioned? You can have us try to fix it, which is challenge, due to the damage, and will cost if we can. You can purchase a new one. You can buy the Benchmade, break the blade and get a new blade?

If it were me and I liked the knife, I would just get a new one. If I didn't like the knife, I would buy one that I did like.

It seems like you're asking the same question over and over in an attempt to get the answer you want...

You used the knife and made a mistake. Beyond that, what were you hoping would happen? It's likely that the heat treat is ruined in that particular spot and a regrind would goof up the knife. You've been given choices by the Founder and President of the company, none of which seem to appeal to you.

What do you want at this point?

I posted the picture to see if you thought it was something your guys could fix. On a tight budget, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to send a knife in just to get a "no," now does it? Since you don't seem to think it's a fix, that answers the question.

I'm sure Sal appreciates your white-knighting.

I will see if I can explain this to you. It's not a difficult concept, really. I posted asking if they replaced blades. I was told no. I said I thought that was a bogus policy, but I get it. I was told they "might be able to fix it." "Might" really doesn't carry much weight, so I kind of left it alone at that point. [are you still with me? do I need to slow down?] I then forgot about the post. Life happens. A couple of days ago, I remembered to take a picture and decided to post it to see if Sal could give any more definitive of an answer, as I know it's probably hard to make that determination based off of text alone. Which he did, hours after my question and mere moments before you decided to come to Sal's rescue.

Shot in the dark, but you might check the craftsman-service provider area or put in a work request with Tom Krein. If you are super attached to your knife somebody could probably grind a new edge to your liking.

I would just buy a new knife, your knife looks well used..if you paid 100.00 and had it ten years that's 10/yr usage like .02-.03 per day ,plus the fun in getting a new knife .

Man, you are a sour person. Seems like karma might be real after all.

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate situation. Sometimes crap happens.
Yes, many companies will replace blades for a nominal fee, many won't. Spyderco just happens to be one that doesn't. If this turns you off from the company, then so be it and move on. You can see Mr. Glesser wants to help you out and offer some resolution. By responding to the thread, it is evident he takes an active role and interest in interacting with his customers. That speaks volumes to me. Sometimes, however, the damage may be to great, and there's just not much they can do.
I think your best bet at this point would either be a regrind, or a new knife. Best of luck, sir!

Frame it on the wall, buy a new knife and carry on.

Kudos for helping somebody out in the time of need, accidents happen and unfortunately are not always fixable. The knife appears to be well used, keep it as a memento and buy the next knife you have been eyeing out.
