The Seax handle is very SOG Vulcan like in the end part of the handle. I never understood why you’d just have the thin liners exposed where your pinky finger grips the handle. It looks like a lot of SOG items and design philosophy is carrying over to the CS line up. Especially the three pack or CS throwing hawks that are the identical footprint of the SOG tomahawk.

Aesthetically I prefer the look of the old Swift.
Agreed, I‘ve no desire for assisted opening, which is the only reason I never bought one.

And they are adding a 5max?? The 4max is already a monster, I can hardly imagine what a 5 will be like.

I had to return the 6.5" version. The handle was unusable for me, even for $57.
The handle designs for the GSM products seem to be either very blocky with a few bits rounded over, or purely designed around the aesthetic and don’t look comfortable at all.

KnifeCenter has it listed for $240 (MSRP $350). That's a "no thank you" price for an AUS10 blade and plastic scales in my book, unfortunately. Also makes me think the S35VN/G10 version will be priced more like the 4-MAX, again unfortunately.
That’s ridiculous, oh well no Mayhem for me. Other than the Mayhem, I found the 2023 line-up underwhelming. I’ll get the Recon 1 Spearpoint and that will be it.

Firstly, as a newbie to these forums, thank you for all the amazing designs and work you did with CS over the years.

And I agree. I always think that the handles are broken/chipped whenever I see ones like that. I think they’re trying to use the Cold Steel image to try and help SOG look better at the expense of damaging the CS brand that’s been built up over the years.

Don’t really get the LT Kobun. It’s basically an Outdoorsman blade with a Kobun handle, so not really a Kobun. And LT is known for popularizing the American Tanto, so why change the blade? I mean it looks pretty cool, and nice it comes in S35VN, just don’t know why they put the Kobun name on it.

After the Signature Edition Vaquero, I haven't really understood the reasoning behind any of the Lynn Thompson signature series. Most are modifications of models that weren't his sole design.

What I wish they'd do is a signature Black-Out Desperado (another of Lynn's creations) in DLC S35VN with contoured G-10 handles. Now that would be a knife worthy of Lynn's signature!

That isn’t to say I won’t in the future, but I am wanting to wait it out a bit to see if things improve.

That's pretty bad.

I bought four Recon Tanto trainers when they first came out and they were used two or three times a week in martial arts classes for years without breaking.

The only one that was damaged was due to me cutting the blade off to make a neck knife/folder trainer.

Thank you Sharpminds. I took great pride in everything I designed during my time at CS.

Aus10 would be perfect around the $100 neighborhood, maybe a bit more. $240 is just yikes.

Yes, those Razorteks plummited in price, still hate em though, and that Mayhem in aus10 for 240 is crazy, Just like the Demko Freereign in aus10 for 150 there is no way that makes sense to me...

I was so excited to hear about the Freereign when they announced it, but that price is just too much what it is. I love Demko knives, but I’ll wait and hope Lamnia have it on sale at some point.

Not so impressed with most of the GSM era stuff for the most part, but no doubt I'm super stoked for the new Ti-Lite, never dreamed they would be releasing a new one with a new blade style. Being as though it will be a Thompson signature series with G10 and S35vn, I expect it to be expensive.

The mention of the 5 Max piqued my attention. Definitely, will add one to the stable. Still on the fence, regarding the 'Atlas-lock'. They don't seem to be that strong, IMHO. I saw the guy from Gideon's Tactical loosen one up pretty easily. But then again, he was batoning with the folder.

so far, nothing new for the 2023 line has impressed me.

I will wait until they get around to posting products on their website and 2023 catalog.
I wish they would hurry up and post either the line up or the catalog. Used to be the first week of January and now it’s February and still not up.

Hopefully the 5-Max being a Demko design will use his triad lock and not their Atlas one.

In the video they did for knife centre, they actually mention that video and claimed that you just need to tighten up the pivot screw to fix it. Not sure if that actually works or not, but still not really a great fix to it happening in the first place.
