New CRK Exclusive **Carbon Fiber**PICS ADDED

i have stated earlier that I don't like this knife. however, if Knife Art were to make the CF side an inlay instead of an entire scale I would be all over it.

That would be of more interest to me, too, probably. I have been surprised at how well the micarta works as an inlay - I had not expected to like it much, but it's very functional.

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread...my "knives to get" list just got a little bigger!

Can anyone list any disadvantages of CF over Ti? In other words, I can’t think of one practical advantage Ti has over CF.

My guess is that it's biggest disadvantage is tradition:D I am no matterials expert, but I believe CF is more rigid.

Ti is tougher and will bend rather than break under stress. CF is rigid and will chip if you drop it or something. Realistically speaking CF is an inferior material to ti overall. I dont see any practical reason to take CF over titanium unless it was for comfort/aesthetic reasons.

I would prefer titanium with CF inlaid but I'm going to get this one anyway, haha

I wonder if that is Blacksite carbon fiber which is apparently very high quality. Whichever type it is, it sure looks GREAT!

As the pictures show there be CF only on the front side and the backside(lock side) remain in titanium.

In my opinion, I think this look like a custom scale made by others and just put on the knife.
It would be much nicer if the CF is inlaid on both sides which is more officially from Chris Reeve.
What do you guys think?

Sure looks great! Is this an exclusive for Knife Art?

To answer some other questions I saw on this thread, so far:

According to Alpha Knife Supply, the supply of Lightning Strike Carbon Fiber has dried up. There are some custom makers that have a small stock pile, but for the most part, you will not see LSCF in the future. Too bad, I liked the look of it.

Doesn't Barry H do cf scales for Sebenza's?

Yup, still do.

I've carried one of my cf scales on a Sebenza on and off for years. I have dropped my knife on occasion with no ill effect on the scale or knife. Plus, it shaves about 1 oz off the weight of the knife. I carry a large and it is practically weightless in my pocket.

I really doubt anyone here is going to subject their knife to an extraordinary stress which would take either titanium or cf to the breaking point.

Black site is a vendor, Lisa. They do not manufacture their own cf. They buy it direct from a manufacturer. Their standard CF looks like they same stuff Halprens or AKS sells.

blacksite is the best. and i dont think he has the same supplier as aks. ive never had issues or voids in a cf plate from blacksite. and lightning strike is still available....at a price it costs around 700$ pound!

What makes Black Site the "best" Peter? How is it any better than what Halpren's or AKS sells? And who sells LSCF? AKS had an exclusive on it and they tell me they can't get it any more. Post a link of any one else that sells it, then.

So, who's going to be the first one to contact CRK and ask if we can purchase the CF scale separately (no chance)?

I am tempted to buy one just to swap the scale with my Small Insingo to make the best EDC knife ever created that much lighter.

As to durability, my Barry H. CF scale has ridden on my Sm. sebbie for more than a year as a daily EDC, without showing any sign of wear, nor any function problems. BTW with DT raindrop Damascus.

Not even worth the energy needed to pick up the phone or click "send." :D. Get one from Barry.
