New Cruwear PM2?

Mine is about perfect, at least by my standards. Absolutely zero pivot play, easily flick-able, and does not quite drop free. I don't understand the preoccupation with that, it's not even desirable. Having a little friction in the pivot helps ensure safe one-handed closure.

All the recent PM2's I've gotten... this one, jade/DLC/M4, grey/Maxamet, red/M390, CF/52100, grey/Cruwear, CF/M4, etc. have been outstanding. IMO, Spyderco is just killing it with these knives. Sure would be nice to hear some specifics in terms of what tolerances have changed relative to the earlier PM2's.

I noticed yesterday it didnt show in stock anymore. Now it's says more in stock on 5/31. Guess they only received part of the run at first?

Smooth G10 is a turn off to me. If black smooth handles are a thing, then go with CF. Smooth Black G10 seems like worst of all worlds and a cost saving measure.

If using Black G10 (which I do love BTW), then go with standard rough Black G10.

Wouldn't smoothing the textured g10 cost more?

Score one more for the “pretty much perfect” camp. I was not sure about the smooth g10, but I actually like it. It has the smallest amount of texture you can feel with your nail, but not really with the finger. Haven’t dropped mine yet:thumbsup:

I don't know how Spyderco sources their G10 but, if you check prices on a knife supply site, the textured G10 is more money. I believe G10 is generally made in smooth sheets. Makes sense that it would cost a little more to have the peel-ply texturing applied.

They sold out the first 300 in a few hours and more will be arriving tomorrow. They are going to keep making them until they stop to sell so you don't have to rush

Did some surgery. Liked the smooth scale so much that I went with contoured Aramis smooth carbon fiber. Knife is perfect now. I can't bieve how 3d the scales are. It's perfectly smooth matte but not slippery.

Cruwear in the right.

I wish they would:

A) Make Cruwear a standard production steel

B) Offer DLC coated blades of it (for extra corrosion protection and also bc it looks cool)

Where were you able to find these scales?

I just got one of these delivered from KnifeCenter yesterday. Sharpest "as delivered" Spydie I've ever owned.
(Compared it today to a Maxamet PM3 and an S110V PM2 and it was the clear winner.)

I think I'm going to really enjoy this knife.

How do you like the smooth G10? Blues Blues

Chris D :D

I was a little concerned about it due to some of the reports I've read...but needlessly imho. Yeah, it's not as grippy as the standard G10 but I don't see it as a problem for my particular uses.

Knife fighting isn't my thing and as a retired LEO I'd grab my pistol first.

So, the times when I'd need to retrieve my knife particularly quickly are few and far between. That said, I don't want to drop it either so I've put a small paracord lanyard on as insurance against the day.

Nothing against smoothness either from me. Just would enjoyed a color other than black like grey or smooth carbon fiber.

The thing about PM2s though is that there are at least a few reliable, experienced makers out there of custom scales if you really want something other than what comes with it. Sure, after spending that much money on a knife, maybe the last thing you want to do is buy custom scales for it, but it is an option.

I actually don't think it looks bad in this smooth black...especially with black / gray paracord .

I'm just easy I guess. :p
