The Z Tuff Fell Beast run and Tyrant Bowie Prototype run are finishing up on the mill this week and going straight to heat treat. This means I have no knives in the shop to work on, so naturally, I went back to the drawing board to work on some new designs.

From Top to Bottom.

1. The Fell Chef 2.0. 13in blade, .156in thick Magnacut or Z Wear
Really excited about this one. The Fell Chef started as an accident. The original model was a cut as a blank for sheath making for the 12in Fell Beast model. I quickly realized that the blade shape and balance made it an even better performer than the standard 12in Fell Best. When revisiting this model, I got a little crazy and decided to really lean into the "Chef" aspect.

I think this is the worlds first hard use, outdoor chef knife. Basically, this is a full blown heavy machete with a 13in blade that can chop, baton, clear brush, and also double as a nice chef knife for when you are in the field prepping meals or processing game. I've added a removable forward scale to assist with the pinch grip when used as a chef knife and it also sports a front hole so that it can hang in the kitchen if you want to use it at home. Going to hand grind these thin for maximum slicing performance.

2. The Mega Fillet 12in blade .110 thick Magnacut or Z Wear
This one is made to be used for big fish or big game where you need extra blade length and rigidity beyond what a standard fillet knife would offer. The extra strength from the stock thickness also means this can double as a large field knife.

3. The Mega Boner 12in blade .110 thick Magnacut or Zwear
Aside from having the best name ever, this one is designed for processing beef carcasses. The length and blade shape lend well to deboning and slicing up ribeyes. This is the perfect knife to turn a beef half into some nice steaks.

Your new designs are making it really difficult to act like a responsible adult.

I'd be interested to get a sense of the prices in due course, and also to know if there is any major difference between the MF and MD (other than the choil and innuendo value). I.e. will the grind height / edge thickness & angle be the same on both? And do you know roughly where the POB will be [trying to get a sense of whether I'd want to use the choil]?

They will be very similar in terms of grind angle and edge thickness. The MB is slightly taller. Of the two, I think the MB is a better overall model because you can make rocking cuts with the blade vs. the choil on the MF will hit on a cutting board.

With G10 scales, I think the balance point will be right around the ricasso. With Terotuff, it will be slightly more forward. I'm making a prototype in my shop this weekend so I'll know once I've got one in hand.

Price wise, aiming for the $400 range.

My $0.02…

Magnacut

Or Aebl and then we can afford both choil and choiless👍🏼
Im leaning towards magnacut or Z wear for a nice balance or toughness, edge retention, and stain resistance. S90V and 10V wont do as well making contact against bones.
