Wanted to share the 3 Z Tuff prototypes that you guys havent seen yet. They are pictured with the Fell Beast for scale
top to bottom.
1.
Tropic Thunder Paramilitary - I've been working on this design all year and have gone back and forth through a bunch of renditions. This is an ultra lightweight, super long machete designed for paramilitary applications in tropical regions. It has a 20in blade. I have no idea if this design is even feasible to produce. It might not make it past the hand ground prototype phase. Its probably going to cost too much and be too hard get them straight in HT, but we'll find out. While it may look similar to the Fell Beast, its a completely different tool. It won't have big chopping power or the strength and toughness of the Fell Beast. What it will have is SPEED, reach, and a nasty tip. Its designed to be absolutely as light and fast as possible. It should sail straight through tropical vegetation and whatever else it comes across is some rougher regions of the world. If you know any operators that want to try one of these, let me know.
2.
True Grass Machete Mini- this is a smaller rendition of the original TGM with a thicker stock and a shorter 14in blade. Just under 20in overall. This will be fast, light, compact, and hopefully affordable.
3.
My Personal EDC. Here's a quick write up:
I've been wanting to do an EDC run but honestly, my old EDC design is solid, but boring. I went back to the drawing board and asked, "What do I actually want to carry?" and went from there.
For me, an EDC first and foremost needs to be a full sized knife that I can comfortably carry. I'm not a fan of really tiny EDC blades. The new EDC is a compact knife but its full size. You can do real work with it, the handle is super comfortable and you can use it all day without hot spots.
Second, I wanted a blade shape thats versatile and slices well. Personally, I dont like a drop point for EDC. This tip is too high and it loses alot of its utility. I wanted a lower tip thats better for opening boxes etc... Third, I wanted a blade shape that allows you to pinch grip and place your index finger on the blade for precise cuts. And finally, I wanted clearance for your knuckles so you can use the blade to cut food on a cutting board. Notice that the blade is lower than the front guard so you can rock and chop like a kitchen knife.
So this is what I ended up with, the original handle with a blade thats somewhere between a nessmuck and wharncliffe. the handle is angled to create knuckle clearance and the blade is lower than the guard for food prep.
Not sure what steel I'm going to do but these will all be thin .125 stock probably ground down to around .110. The Prototype will be Z Tuff.
