It’s pretty much the equivalent, you won’t be able to tell the difference.
20CV is a great steel especially in a $160 knife, I personally look at it as equal to M390.

M390
The other two use a similar recipe.
CPM-20CV
CTS-204P
Yep.M390 is made in Europe by Bohler-Uddeholm
CPM-20cv is made by Crucible here in the US
CTS-204p is made by Carpenter, also in the US
Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered it.There's an orange handle version now.
I carried a fancy folder of theirs for about 4 yrs...the 154 cm steel was butter soft. I replaced it once with them; same soft steel; would NOT hold an edge...or get very sharp either. They would not let me upgrade to a better steel. They have some of the best customer service and warranty work in the industry. They will ship out hardware, on their dime, and itll be to your door within a week, including pocket clips. They do reblades for reasonable prices, and they will warranty work even if its your fault and not theirs. Their pricing annoys me sometimes but they stand behind their product and I respect that.

I’m new to the knife world. Is knife culture such that someone is selling the M390 on eBay for $199 and someone else will buy it?![]()

Gah, just when I thought I was done buying knives for the next month or two. Had to order the orange!
