New Dual Survival Personality is no Longer a secret

Teti seems to be too eager to 'prove' himself as a TV personality.... Hopefully he will settle down over the first couple episodes.

Hollywood pays actors to pretend to be warriors....now they are lost as to how to get a warrior to pretend to be an actor.

I tried to watch it and just couldn't. It was pretty bad with the staged stuff and Cody trying to make the guy look like a dumb A. Pretty crazy.

He started out drinking his own piss, jumping off cliffs and dramatically killing a pig with his F.B. when he already had an adequate spear blade stuck in the thing. They should have paired him with Bear Grylls and named the show "Dual Douchebags"--KV

I only found out Dave had been replaced last night - on the unbraided pre-show. It was a bit of a shock - I thought they had developed into a good pair - a la Myke Hawke and his wife. But Joe starts off with two negatives, in my book, to overcome before I can consider him. Firstly, perhaps paraphrasing a bit, he said he'd take a can do attitude over knowledge and ability! Thinking, "I will survive!", won't help you much on a rainy cold night if you don't know how to build a shelter or a fire. Secondly, he drank his own urine - a bad idea anytime - a terrible idea when you are already dehydrated. And, gross-out to follow, he offered to let Codi 'drink from the tap'! Now, I was a sailor for 3yr 9mos 5 days, but who was counting, and around sub-sailors, so I can play gross-out with anyone - but that was out of place on Discovery channel. I'll watch additional episodes - but I don't predict a fourth season if Joe stays - unless he vastly improves. In all honesty, Codi was - and certainly now is - the survivalist in the show.

Stainz

I watched both shows las tnight and have to say I wasn't impressed. I used to enjoy watching these type shows, but the more they are on, the more BS the folks are putting out, arguments and all just for show. I have it set it up to record on the DVR, but I probably won't spend any more time watching it live.

Before killing the pig, he dramatically posed to look at his knife, then did his best Rambo impression while sticking the pig, looking around with his best warrior face... That was kinda funny to watch. :D
Other than that, he didn't seem that different from Dave Canterbury. I thing Cody is the one pulling the puppet strings to make the show keep its ratings.

Because in the Military, you don't have a film crew, medical crew and support crew following you every step of the way in order to market a film.

In Hollywood, a tv show fails, everybody goes home and says "meh, we'll come up with a better schpiel that someone else will bankroll"....

In the Military, if your "show" fails...people come home in caskets.

Huge difference.

So the lack of a backup team during your term of service is what makes one a exceptional survival instructor on tv?

I don't know if you read my post correctly, but what I meant was, that they should pick the most competent instructor regardless of their prior or current occupation.

But hey, "military" sells and that's what counts on tv. That or a great pair of tits.

I watched the second show with them in the desert, Dude is a warrior no doubt and he has survival skills, as they are taught in special forces, I think maybe they are trying to make him look like some kinda noobie to survival situations, and let Cody "school " him on his ways, But if Teti is what they say he hs he knows plenty about surviving in tough terrains, Don't let the Discovery Channel fool you. Dude knows his stuff, hes probably just been instructed something like this is Cody's show let him be the leader and you follow in behind, Talk some smack about him on camera , Oh and by they way would you mind drinking some piss? no okay cool, heres your check$$$.

Joe Teti's knife in some of the scenes from the "Unbraided" show, looked like a TOPS Fire Strike, and in others his own TOPS knife.

What was with the exaggerated way he draws it from the sheath and holds it up over his head like it's a sword????? :)

in the boar scene, right? yea, that was a bit excessive and dramatic. Hamming it up for the camera i reckon.

Cody only drinks his piss on "on the rocks". A bit of lemon and sugar if available.

I watched it. I enjoyed it. I like Teti. Some people don't. He has a different approach which is what the producers want.

Dave and Cody didn't have the best chemistry in the beginning. I noticed in Season 2 Cody and Dave began getting along much better.

As mentioned before the show is made for a mass audience appeal. It's not specifically geared towards people like us. I would think if there were a show geared towards us it would be shown on PBS.

It's only been one episode.

Les Stroud is still the man off topic just had the urge to say it. On another note , Cody is mighty cocky in that episode last night, Teti might hafta show him what a SF operator does best , lol

I am pretty sure Cody's solar house is NEW. That's what happens when you become a "star". All the piping and stuff looked essentially brand new.

Teti has potential and I think he will do just fine. You have to remember he is not used to doing TV or being filmed. His focus with survival has been ... you make a big mistake and you die or your buddies die. It is vastly different from Cody's perspective which is entirely non-military and primarily not driven by high physical skills like climbing up or down a cliff. He's a bug eater and a fire maker.

It's not the chemistry or lackthereof that bothers me. I don't enjoy when they so blatantly fabricate emotions and drama just to make the show compelling. I mean, there must be some folks who believe its real or enjoy bad acting (they probably enjoy monday night smackdown crap too), but its certainly not for me.

Watched first episode with my wife, her comment after the show was, "Glad they didn't get rid of Cody" haha

I didn't see where his house was shown, but was it the house in this video?

If it was, that video was made in 2008 which already pre-dates Dual Survival. Not sure when that home was built, though.
