Cool, I will bring my S&N Camp axe, which was Modified by Brian Andrews as well as my David Farmer Golok:thumbup:

bumping this back up since its next weekend...

Andrew and I are planning on carpooling...

i'll probably be bringing way more gear than i need, but such is life.

how is food going to go? all individual pretty much?

Well my wife is working that weekend, right in Greenfield MA but that means I gotta be at home. :( Might be able to come down for a couple of hours.... but no way I can make the weekend.

If anyone who wants to come up for a day and lives relatively close to me needs a ride, give me a shout. I plan on leaving Bethel at 6am on Sat morning.

halo, i hope you can make it, i'm interested in seeing one of those paiute deadfalls in person!

Bump..whats the head count at this point..just a few of us?

looks like 4 of us confirmed on saturday with Tony being there...

by the way, i'm just posting up a little more info Gene gave me so you can pack appropriately...
there will be water, but its not really drinking freindly, so bring some extra. chances to melt snow or ice for water...

chances for group meals. i have a 2 quart billy pot that we can cook in, and i have a couple of recipes for some camp-friendly soups.

plenty of shelter material for natural shelters.

I am trying to talk Marcelo into going, he seams to think work is more important

Sorry guys, I was all in until I found out I have a track meet to coach on Saturday. Have fun without me and be safe. Take plenty of pics, swap some lies and share some good times by the campfire.

By the way, hold the blue dagger close to your heart. It is only there in spirit.

Looks like we are gonna get some snow on Saturday:D:thumbup:

Which means if it is significant you will have a 4th staying overnight. I guess I will pack accordingly.

I would love to go, but I'll be working Friday night (until 8 am saturday morning - I'm not usually much use after I come off call :)).

Hopefully I'll make the next one.
Sam

If anyone is going to be in the west hartford area before friday, I can donate some parachute material & paracord for shelters.

it looks like we might be getting the "wintery mix" sometime this week...

i'm hoping that we will get a few inches to build shelters with. that would be great

Tony, it would also be cool if you accidentally ended up staying the night.

just curious, are you planning it for the day because you don't want to winter camp overnight or other obligations? if its because you don't want to winter camp, Andrew and i figured out a few tricks to keep you toasty in your sleeping bag, so we should be able to keep you warm

Gene, just curious, how far into the woods are we going to be heading? If its not too far, we could try and get some steaks or some nice food to cook over a fire as I'm sure that would keep people's spirits up despite the cold.

Andrew, Gene said that its about 800 meters (1/2 mile), but he mentioned that we might be taking the scenic route in.

he also said that he has a big dutch oven he might bring along, so we could try doing something with that.

i'm thinking about bringing the fixins for some chicken and dumpling soup or maybe potato and onion soup.

Sleeping with the dogs is better alternative. ;)
