New England gathering head count--All are welcome!

Andrew and i figured out a few tricks to keep you toasty in your sleeping bag, so we should be able to keep you warm

That just sounds wrong:eek:

Seriously, business sucks and I would hate to have to take an extra day off, Sunday is usually a decent day. I really don't have a problem with nights in the winter, its the waking up freezing that I hate:o

If Marcelo comes it will most likely just be for Saturday as he is scheduled to work this weekend and I doubt he will take both days off. If he doesn't come then I will let weather determine if I stay or go. I am not into driving 3 hours in the dark with snow and icy conditions:thumbdn:

I would love to go, but I'll be working Friday night (until 8 am saturday morning - I'm not usually much use after I come off call :)).

.

You will be on my way up, so if you want I can pick you up. This way you can nap in the car:thumbup:

i just got through with the preliminary packing of my bag, and right now its at 17 pounds dry. the only thing missing is the sleeping bag that should be arriving in the mail this week sometime... so i should end up with around a 20 pound base weight.

i don't think that's bad for a dry weight considering i'm bringing an axe and a shovel among several other not-so-light items...

i found the recipes i have been talking about, does anyone have any aversions to mushroom, onion or chicken? if no, then i'll bring whatever i have the most supplies for handy...

Well, if we do get snow..it will be some motivation to construct solid shelters..I myself plan on erecting a 5 star hotel by noon, then just ordering room service all afternoon. All that with a GB and Skookum!;)
I think that we should all be fine.
I would recomend planning ahead a bit..maybe some extra clothes that are suitable for the outdoors in the cold, as we will be near some wetlands..and even frozen over, you could fall into some pretty cold wetstuff.
I think that if we all bring our own grub, thats fine, but if we plan on cooking for the group (which I think makes more sense..) I think we should get together via telephone or email and decide on a simple menu. Something that everyone can eat. I will still bring some snacks for myself.
I would like to know if anyone has any health conditions, or alergies also..not for any other reason than it is just a good policy to be forward about such things. I think that they could even be discussed in person, if mentioning anything like that is awkward here.
Also, when we get there..I am not in charge...I am going to take care of the woods to the best of my abilities..but I dont want to be the fearless leader..I am looking to relax a bit. I ofcourse will help with the layout and planning..as I know the lay of the land..but I dont want to be the boss..I dont think we need one. Maybe if a plane just crashed, and we where the only survivers:rolleyes::barf:
Anyway..I think that around Thursday we should have a reasonable idea on who is coming.

Simon..I hate mushrooms. Unless Im at a concert. :D

Gene, what time are we all meeting on Saturday and is it ok if we all make shelters, and how about fires, and will you be setting jobs for us all? Cmon talk to me "BOSS"!!

:D:D:D

sounds like double onion and potato soup for dinner on saturday then...sound good with everyone?

i can bring some stovetop rice, which will serve about 1.5 people for lunch. i can also bring some veggie soup mix, which should serve 2-3 adult sized people...

i also might be able to talk my parents into letting my bring one of their frozen cuts of pork, which would be good over the fire.

i'm sure i'll be able to dig up some other goodies around the house to share around.

i guess i will probably bring along a gallon of milk, but i'm not sharing :D

no allegeries here.

I would suggest (and could bring) a few packs of hot dogs for everyone. They are cheap and easy to carry and cook. Other than that I might bring some hot chocolate powder and some beef jerky for myself.

I can bring my new Air Rifle, maybe we can get a squirrel or 2 for dinner!

I also have no food allergies and will eat just about anything. I will bring some grub as well to share.

Gene I lost your number, can you pm it to me or call me tomorrow afternoon?

Ok good news fellas:thumbup: Marcelo has confirmed that he is coming!

So that is 5 for Saturday, we're getting there...

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

it'll be good to hang with him again too, its been a while since we first met...

I am very psyched to be able to come, as I didn't expect to get the day off. I can bring some Corned beef hash and some baked beans to share if'n ya'll want. I got my new Brian Andrews Bushcraft which I'll be bringing and letting you guys touch with one finger :D.

I'm in, so that makes 6. I'll need directions. Please let me know what food/supplies to bring, except the survival stuff. That I have covered.

i just went and double checked my big pot, only to discover that its not quite as big as i remember... :o

anyone have something like a 4+ quart pot that they wouldn't mind putting in the fire? otherwise we'll just have to cook the soup in two batches...:o

halo, its cool that you're coming  perhaps you could bring something like a loaf of italian bread for dinner on saturday night?

I'm glad this is working out and people are able to come. How many of you are planning on staying overnight? Also what sort of shelter are you guys using? I discovered my tarp is not too effective. Maybe i'll throw the tent in the car just in case.
