I like the idea of it being modular. Adding multiple tubes and configuration options is a major plus. I could see setting up a couple of them to make an ultra compact survival kit. Look forward to seeing these hit the market. I invision 100's of threads labeled "How I set up my ESEE firekit"
Modular and add on pieces look like a fantastic idea... How about a hollow sleeve threaded on both ends to put two tubes together for a 6-7" tube?
sorry guys, i'll be the black sheep, i dont like it. it seems like i'd end up just carrying it with the ferro rod out to keep room in the chamber for tinder and such. I COULD BE WRONG, but it seems like with the ferro rod actually inside the tube it takes up too much space. again, i could be wrong without seeing the actual specs and some better pictures, but as it stands, i dont like it.
I would likely carry it with rod on the outside as well, but thats what makes this a great system... you have the option to if thats what you want.
I really like the new firekit, its alot more advanced than the old one , like the compass on it too. Will it work in my Toyota though?
Or better yet..include a domed endcap you could screw on in place of the ferro rod end. It would be more of a "capsule", and you could carry a small firesteel inside (like the one that comes with the Izula kit).
one of these days the coolness will runout and you will need the real cool stuff to keep em interested.
Yeah. She likes me for me. Not because I hang with Leonardo or that guy who played in Fargo, I think his name was Steve.
