New GEC pemberton sure is small!

Still no pictures of the Black Olive Jig Bone version!!? I'm torn between this one and the Ebony. I want both but I also want a 76, 33 and so on lol.

Here is my new Natural Stag Pemberton. This is a great little knife! Sorry about the cellphone picture! Steven

That blood shot just cost me $
Along with the following picture, it convinced me to pull the trigger on a single blade ebony pemberton, (thanks to all the people whose photos I repost without attribution, feel free to take credit)

thanks for the shove over the edge

good thing I prefer single blades or I'd be in for a Natural Stag Pemberton that matches my Peanut.. resist, resist, resist
message me if you want the link ;-)

Sweet! That Pemberton on hand is mine--but I have to warn you, it's the buffalo horn, not ebony. I highly recommend it, although I'm still working on getting a proper edge on the traditional steel.

These pictures make me want a 2-blade in jigged bone.

Cheers and enjoy!
Daniel

I took these pictures in response to a request in another thread for a comparison of a #25 Northwoods Jack with a Peanut, but since I included a 2-blade Pemberton I thought I'd post them here as well.

If nothing else, these pictures further illustrate how relative "small" can be-- for someone like me used to #25s, the Pemberton is wee indeed, while someone accustomed to a Peanut might deem it downright bulky. ;)

(Added a 2-blade #25 barlow for thickness comparison to the Northwoods single-blade)

(Added a #25 Little Jack, to show how its bolstered end tapers more than either the barehead Northwoods or #25 barlow)

it'll be worth it, I changed my main blade to 30° and it has the nicest edge of any of my GECs now (except maybe one of my #73s).

Thanks that was speedy. I am going to get in trouble for sure. Already doubled my knife budget this month. Lets see, if I order today maybe it won't get here for a week then It will be technically next month right?

Used the Peanut to open the box with the Pemberton

The Pemberton is built like a tank. Fit and finish are excellent. The only issue is a very sharp joint at the end of the spine, and the spine edges up to the clip. I tried stropping but they shaved the leather, so I resorted to a stone, and a bit of light dremmeling at the corner of the spine joint..

I forced the patina with hot vinegar on a Qtip..

I really like the slim handle profile of the single blade Pemberton, and the wide Pemberton blade seems much less fragile than my Peanut, and the Pemberton handle is slimmer, which is what I was hoping for.

As others often mention about GEC in general, my Pemberton has a pretty strong spring. I really appreciate the half stop for that reason. And Im enjoying the strong snap to open, which gives confidence, and the great snap to close, just sounds good.

Very happy with my first GEC. I blame this forum.
Thanks and Happy Easter!

jon....that ebony Pemberton is beautiful. Congrats & Enjoy! You post has me thinking strongly about a single blade Pemberton. It's between an ebony and an olive bone.......oh no...

A one-eyed, color blind, one armed zombie could take better pictures than I do. I make up for the quality of my pictures with my witty banter.

"Suitably small sleeve suggestions?

While perusing my peanuts and Pembertons, I perceived a paucity of petite pants - a poverty of properly proportioned pouches.

I'll just cut to the chase and admit I'm looking for a little pouch to protect my pretties when my pants lack a horological pocket."

My favorite lines ever written on this forum! Proof positive that this is not the exclusive haunt for illiterate quadrupedal knuckle-walkers (such as myself). :)
