New GEC pemberton sure is small!

Wow P, that is a jewel! Your pics really show how great the jigging is, and surprisingly, how great a match it is to your 25 ( which I've been secretly coveting since you first posted pics of...:) ). I'm so glad that you've been bit by the bug, now you have me pondering an AJB :grumpy: :)

Like you ever need much encouragement to go for another knife! :D

Hey, now.

:D

Just look at all the knives I pass up, every day! I'll make you a list of what I don't have yet, so you can be impressed by my restraint. :p

Believe it or not, I actually have (had?!) a Plan, especially considering that Charlie's revving up the Barlow-matic again.

... The Pemberton took me by surprise. Based on its first pictures and written description, I didn't expect to like it, and had concerns about its proportions in GEC's hands. SonnyJim's (and others') pictures were instrumental in hitting the trip wire between, "Nah, I can wait, and enjoy others' pictures and see what GEC does with this pattern in the future, and "Delivery Confirmation Tracking Number."

SO THERE.

But really, this is an elegant little beasty. I love the mediterranean blue of my Case peanut, but have not bonded with the knife itself. The Pemberton, on the other hand, immediately stole my little heart.

The #25s still reign as my favorites, but the Pemberton is the first knife since then that I would consider multiples of (over time, one would hope), for the array. They're just really cool.

I'm just returning the favor. Give and it shall be given unto you...? :)

As noted, the bone's coloration is less dramatic in real life than it appears in most of my pictures, but oh is it pretty, in whatever lighting.

-- The Pemberton's grind/edge wasn't as well-refined as that of my last new GECs, #15s, so I too took it to ceramic to bring out the Sharp. Also, the jigging had a couple "sharps" of its own that I've smoothed over. Quibbles, however, and easily remedied.

I knew as soon as I saw the real life pics I'd want an Autumn Gold Pemberton too, but as typical of a knife nut I grabbed a single blade yeller Camillus Peanut to scratch the itch from the Pemberton singles at less than half the price. But I've found the black olive Pemberton and that pesky Autumn Gold are still calling. Doggone it!

Maybe they'll be sold out by payday and I can bank the cash for the Champlin Eureka Jack that I couldn't resist :D

Thought I'd add my pair. I must say the single blade does work in this size. The 2 blade feels thick compared to the single blade until you pick up another knife. It is only just slightly thicker than a single spring #33 for example. I can see carrying one of these as a companion to a larger knife or if I don't expect to need a larger knife.

Don't have much to beat the previous comparison pics; all I can say is, I am very happy with this little guy.

The Cherry Soda Acrylic came today, and I'll echo what Steve said ..... I am very happy with this little guy!

I've never had an Acrylic before so I didn't know what the heck to think about 'em. In regular or low-light conditions, and at a casual glance, it pretty much looks like your basic Swiss-Army-Knife RED. In my pic I tried to show how the acrylic differs from a SAK ..... pic taken inside, next to a window - (the outside is at the top of the pic) - you can see the light penetrating the bottom cover very well, and the "depth" of the top cover.

This knife feels better in hand than my Case Peanut. I like the long-pull and nail nick both on the mark side, and the pull/nick is deeper cut than on my 'nut, thus giving better purchase for my thumbnail.

If you don't like sub-3" knives there's nothing I can say that will change your mind; I will say this little feller "boxes above its weight" though, and if you're on the fence regarding one of these I'd encourage you to give it a shot. ;)

Thanks for this picture, and your post. Glad you got the picture thing figured out in time. ;)

After mentioning earlier that I'm not over-fond of GEC's "cloud" shield, I was thinking it would work well with this particular pattern, specific to these red covers. Viewed vertically? Bubbles! Your knife reminds me of one of my favorite Coca Cola advertisements:

It really looks like the "cloud" is just floating on the cover, so I agree it's particularly appropriate on acrylic. Betcha if they ever put a "cloud" shield on a sky blue acrylic you'd be all over it! ;)

I really need to quit coming to this thread. It is causing cramps in the wallet.

Hey, now. That's almost not playing fair.

I'd give the pull on both blades a "5" - not a nail breaker at all, but not too soft either. Very nice & even from closed to half-stop to open, and back again.
I concur-- or at least, mine's the same way.

They're fine little knives, emphasis on "little." At the same time, they feel substantive beyond their measurable size, if that makes any sense? (I'm speaking specifically of the 2-blade model; I have no experience with the single-bladed ones.)

... Hopefully, your soon-arriving Champlins will remind your aching wallet of exactly why it's perhaps less-than-forthcoming in response to the Pembertons at this time. Heh.

I do hope GEC does more with this pattern/frame sooner than later. Or even just later. I love what they've done so far, and the future possibilities.

Just realized on my Pemby's, that they're both flush at the half stop :) Offhand, I can't think of another GEC I have that does this

Oh, but you don't want to know what else I have ordered, too. I'm in the hole for a while. I need a support group. This place does not count.
