New GEC pemberton sure is small!

OK... so I couldn't stand it any longer. Just pulld the trigger on a single blade in ebony. To make it worse I just had to add a two bladed Boy's Jack in Red Bone before they are all gone.

I caved. Autumn jigged bone.

Congrats!!! You'll love it. I just received my back up Autumn jigged bone.... The thought of losing original Pemberton and not having a back up....was.....well.....unappealing.

Enjoy!

I use that some excuse, but get different ones i.e. cherry soda, blue angel, ebony. :D

I got to play with these knives this weekend at the gun show as Old Hundred Collectibles was there. Bob sees me coming and I'm sure he knows I'm fiddle with the knives. :D Always a pleasure. Also I really like these but they are tiny. I'm use to my #12 or #72 lock back so quite a difference. I'm trying hold off but time will tell. :)

I know. I was temped by the single blade ebony or black olive bone....but I just love the bone and jigging on the AJB. Still may take the plunge on a wood model.

Oh, but you don't want to know what else I have ordered, too. I'm in the hole for a while. I need a support group. This place does not count.

Don't I know it. I received just yesterday a package of three GEC knives including an ebony single blade Pemberton. It is a jewel even without the bling of the Northfield versions. And, Sarah, those other two knives weren't the Champlin eurekas either. Now GEC has their own version of them coming out (the 92).

Well, since there's apparently no cure, I might as well enjoy the affliction.

I'm a little late to this party, but look what I got in the mail:

Nice choices Blaine, they both look great. I've been debating about getting a two bladed version. Can you do a side by side spine shot sometime to compare widths? I was so geeked meeting Bill Howard when I bought mine I forgot to compare. I'm such a fool!

Here you go:

Hey thanks, that was quick. Looks like the two blade would still ride in the coin pocket pretty well. I tend to favor my single spring knives for regular pocket carry. I like the slim, flat profile better. I often keep a small backup like the Peanut or Pemberton in my coin pocket. The extra thickness tends to go unnoticed there for some reason. I really like my single blade a lot. The thicker blade is like a Peanut on roids.

So is that your blood on the paper towel in the first pic?

Yeah, either one of the Pembertons or Charlows bit me somewhere along the line as I was washing them to get all the GEC grease off.

The two-blade is definitely not too thick. It would sit just fine in your watch pocket and that bone is soooo nice.

my autumn gold bone Pemberton arrived yesterday, a very impressive little knife, the fit and finish is perfect, am looking forward to putting a scalpel edge on it and putting it to use.

Ouch! Even with half stops the Charlows are bear traps. Both of mine have stout springs. And thanks again for the comparison pics.

A few minutes ago, after waiting the longest 5 weeks in my live as a knife-nut, my #06 Pemberton in cocobolo arrived in Muelheim/Germany, together with a bigger brother, a #68 in dark chestnut jig bone.

You can't believe, how lucky i am now! The first GECs i have, but not the last ones, i'm sure !!!

These two GECs are wonderful knives, true "old-timers" and better in fit and finish than all my other traditional folders, i have in my different collectors bags.

There is nothing left in Solingen/Germany, that has the same quality, like these little GEC babies (maybe a few customs)!
You USA-boys won the play agains us Germans... congratulation!

Just in the same minute i'm surfing Greg's shop again, to find some other beautiful Northfield knives.

It's not the question, what is the next knife, but what is the correct order to buy all of them!

But first, i have to "print" more Dollars... much more Dollars :)

Congrats on the new knives! GEC knives are addicting I found this out the hard way too. :)

With joy I opened the tube containing my Pemberton 2 days ago. Upon closer inspection however I find that there is a large gap or the wood is damaged. I`m dissapointed to be honest. I think I contact the store and send it back for another Pemberton or if I can to get another pattern.

I am still very wowed by my own little Autumn number-- such striking lines and hues on the little frame.

That said, I hope GEC uses the black olive bone on a two-blader, or something else.

... Or maybe I don't. Gulp.

Like the Peanut, the Pemberton can handle 94.65% of my knife needs......

...while satisfying all aesthetic requirements, and providing a touchstone to quality endeavors-- those of history, and those yet to come. (That's a lot to put on a small piece of cutlery, but I daresay this one carries it well.)

Excellent choices, both! Congratulations on their safe arrival.

Aw drat, I hate to see that ever, let alone when international shipping and time frames are involved.

Do you have any idea yet how you're going to proceed?
