New locking SAKs coming?

I believe the most annoying dirt a pocket knife accumulates is lint fibers that get lodged at the bottom, below the tools.

While this new design does offer more open areas at the sides, I dont think it will significantly add to the normal level of maintenance required to keep the SAK looking great.

Hopefully the knife will arrive this week, and I'll get hands on experience on it.

Only thing that would have made this better is a flipper design to deploy the blade and the ability to one handed disengaging the lock to put it to bed. But loose blades are not Victorinox blades.
Oh and the non removable clip isn’t a deal breaker for me but i have bent one on a cheap knife once and it broke when removed and the attempted reshaping failed.
I hence have become super aware of the clip and possible snag interactions and act defensively at all times.

Guess i’m late to this party as usual. Just checked and seems all the Synergy X models are SOLD OUT? Lol. Guess Victorinox know what they are doing? Either that or it was so bad they are already discontinued? He he he!
I’ll continue to carry my Champion Plus (also discontinued) in my pouch on my belt.
That Swiss Champion with Sapphire scales at $79 looks like a deal/steal at this point.

From a Reddit post here:

There’s a photo in the comments of them at a Swiss shop, so it seems real.

Maybe this will tamp down on all the, “victorinox doesn’t innovate” talk. Though, I’ll be honest, I’m not 100% sure I like them.

I do like the addition of the nail file to what appears to be a 93mm frame. Though the loss of the awl would be a big bummer.

Don’t personally need/want the package opener.

I can see why the lock would be popular, but I don’t need it either. And the proof will be how difficult it is to use, especially if the backspring is as strong as the current 93mm.

I don’t like the skeletonized scales. At all. Talk about a lint magnet. And without being able to take it apart to clean, if this allows more dirt into the pivots it could be a real issue.

Either way, I’m genuinely interested to get one of these in hand

I don’t like the skeletonized scales at all either. I wouldn't buy one for that reason alone.

I have not gathered a lot of lint when carrying it, then again I dont put myself in the laundry machine either.
Jokes aside, I clip knives to the outside of my pocket for easier access, if I plan on dangling upside down ill probably tuck it inside momentarily

Update. Great working knives, lousy clips, they eventuality loose and start rattling and dont hold on worth a darn. I wish they were removable
Yea that’s a big blunder. I rarely catch my knife or the clips on my flashlight but it has happened in the past and my son showed me his flashlight he bent the clip on and i took it to my shop bench removed the clip gently reformed it and bingo good as new.
Worse case scenario you just order a replacement. image.jpg
All removable.

Well, that's the major problem as I see it; Victorinox made the clips non removable. Dumb move.

I imagine it was an attempt to keep costs down. Victorinox seems like a company that seldom makes dumb moves. That said, I'd rather no clip than a non-removable one.

Considering the relative thinness of the scales and the overall construction of the knives, the engineers probably thought that rivets would be the best choice for mounting the clips.

Everything else they have is basically riveted so they wanted to stay in that lane which i understand
At that point they chose the wrong material for the clip, its too thin and bends too easily. I can now clip the knife to a pair of pants and turn the pants upside down and the knife slides out and falls pretty easily. I guess I won't wear it bungy jumping then

Once again a bad idea attached to a decent idea.
My hope is they will come out with a revision or a quick GEN 2 with removable clip.

Hopefully a detachable pocket clip doesn't taste too modern for victorinox, they may very well expand the locking sak line and keep the clip as is

Even the flashlight people know clips need to be removable?
They sell clips to attach to SAK knives. The instructions don’t include how to weld it in place?
You mount it on and hey if you don’t like it you can remove it?
I personally won’t be buying these because the non removable clip is a big no thanks.

Just finished reading the entire thread again. Exercising my brain out of a moment of boredom i suppose. In an earlier post i said the clip wasn’t a deal breaker. In this post i stated it was point of contention. I guess like all of us we sometimes change our minds. Or i’m just wishy washy??
Still i’m pleased some find them their cuppa tea.

One of my favorite jokes , is basically : " I wish I could be more decisive...or do I ? " 🤔

IDK , but maybe Victorinox is afraid to stray too far from their tried and true , by using fasteners vs rivets .

Because if used for a clip , then why not everywhere else on the SAK ?

Then
you invite DIY mods and warranty issues , etc etc . 😱

More expensive to make also . 🤷‍♂️

Still , no good excuse for not at least making the clip super sturdy , especially if not removable !

Maybe they dont have people carry prototypes before final decisions are made on a design before productions. Clip is too flimsy

I’m not so against the riveted clip. My problem is where it’s mounted. They should have mounted the clip opposite the main blade pivot, not on top of it. As it stands, surely that clip will make the knife very uncomfortable with any heavy blade use. That said, I haven’t handled one yet.
