Attention New measures to stop scams and dishonest behavior in the Exchange

The recent hacked account did send me a timestamp with user name and bladeforums written on the pic, he photoshopped it. Just a heads up that they will still photoshop. However, I used a site that tells you if a picture has been photoshopped and uploaded the picture… it confirmed it appeared doctored.

Got a link to the site you used? DM it to me if you don't want to post in open forum.

If you use an off-site host for your pictures, you can delete them from the host after the sale. Then they no longer show up here I believe? Any pros or cons to that?

The issue was exceeding the user’s photo upload limit ON Bladeforums. No need to that end to delete pictures from third party hosting - it wouldn’t count towards your limit here.

True, but some people want to remove photos for reasons of their own, other than the moot storage issue. I thought this would be a way.

I enjoyed being able to edit sale threads :( Rule #1 is great, kind of meh about rule #2 but then again I hadn't realized relistings were that big of a problem around here.

Fair enough on these new rules even though I did like being able to edit my posts. Thanks for helping things for us!

Huge problem.
Are we able to edit the thread titles still? I have historically edited my sales thread with strikethrough on the price and SOLD bracketing the last asking price, and also edited the title to be "SOLD: *Previous Thread Title*"

No big deal to add updates to the status in the comments vs. editing the OP, but it would probably help everyone administratively if we are still able to edit the thread titles.

I understand the rules which I was not aware of till a Super made a comment on a couple of the knives which I had posted up FS earlier today. Naturally, I am now in compliance with these new rules and have even added these to my other existing unsold knives on the Exchange.

However, although I understand addendum #1, I find these extra rules making the pace of the listings even clunkier for my liking therefore I will partake much less going forward. I do not like addendum #2 as I find it very restrictive but the only silver lining will be that the prices will show for posterity and future references.

My post is intended as my feedback and not as a complaint. Take the use of the word "clunky" with a grain of salt as I find message board type of exchanges (top - down) not the best of formats for my purposes. No disrespect is intended. CS ~

Which account was it? Can you give us all details so we can watch out for this POS.

Also curious as to whether we can edit the thread title after 30 minutes. I always did this and it makes it easy to see SOLD right in the title and avoid having to scroll through the replies just to see it's already sold.
Thanks for helping keep the scammers down!

There have been several accounts belonging to long time members which were recently hacked by an outside scammer. All of those accounts have been banned.

Have really only discussed details with one of the account holders. He admitted he had used the same password on multiple sites. As we have repeatedly said, using the same password, or an easily guessable password is a poor idea.

2 things:

1- Might want to replace “knife” with “ITEM” in line one of your description, and in your header post.

2- Can you pin the new rules to the top of every sales section, and remove or amend the old rules and guidelines? Having multiple sets is just going to add confusion, especially for newer members.

And a 3rd, but a suggestion:

- Lock the Sales section to paying members only.

Just my $0.02… 🇺🇸

I think Spark already pinned a reference to the new rule to the top of each sales section.
