While reading the Spyderco forum last night I came across these two photos (http://www.spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34637&page=19). Needless to say, I can't wait for these to come out. I'm glad they're doing a classic bolstered/hollow ground Persian with a new, FFG/G10 Persian too.

The FFG/G10 appears like a cross between a Milie and a Chinook. I'm curious if it'll still have that Persian feel to it in hand.

My C83 Persian is currently getting spruced up at the Spyderco Spa, so I can't wait to get it back now.

They both look great, the red's better than I imagined. While my original C83 is my all time favorite I'll definitely be picking up a couple of FFG G10 versions to put to work :D

I really like the red. I would prefer a little darker red, but this is fine. Will get couple.
I am wondering if any chances for them to come out in 2010?

Hmm, I like that FFG g10 variant very much... but I am already having Para-Millie 2 comming up... Oh this temptation...

They both look awesome! I still need to get one of the originals (sm 75mm version)....it's been on my radar for a while, but these new ones will be a welcome desire.

Oh man is that pretty... if they can bring the weight down from the 3.5 ounces for the FFG version I'll definitely be getting one.

I feel exactly the same, wish it was a bit darker, but it's just fine the way it is.

I'll be getting one of each of these.

Wait - are these going to be the 89MM Persian or the 75MM Persian? Does anyone know? I can't quite figure it out from the Spyderco thread.

Both are C83 (large) Persians.

Oops, just read that they'll both be G10.

As I already have an original C83, I think I'm more interested in the light, thin G10/FFG version. Both look great, however.

Per Sal, the FFG version will have skeletonized liners so, between that and not having bolsters, it should be a fair bit lighter than the original. But considering the original is over 5.3 oz, I'm not sure it will be less than 3.5. No word on whether the liners on the bolstered version in polished red G-10 will be skeletonized or not. If so, it should weigh a bit less than the original, otherwise just about the same.

Yeah, I was thinking they'd be versions of the current 75MM Persian, which is why I was hoping for under the current weight on the FFG version.

Ah well. Unfortunately the 89MM Persian is just a little bit too big for me.

The red G10 w/ bolsters is definitely going to be a sprint run, but I believe the FFG black G10 will be production.

Cool, I really regret selling my Persian. If at least one of them is regular production than I’ll be able to fix my mistake.
