New Persians Announced

I'm getting confused. I pre-ordered mine, i.e. pre-paid, based on the listed specs on the page at Warriors and Wonders, where it is listed as a 3" (77mm) blade. I ordered based on its listing as a small or mini; I don't want the larger version. Here is the link to the page.

I understand Deacon is a well-respected and knowledgeable member here, but I'm wondering what the official line from Spyderco (e.g. Sal, tazkristi, etc.) is. Can someone please point me to the official word, as I will need to cancel this order before it ships if it's a full size Persian. Thanks.:)

Edit: I just went back in this post and noticed the talk of a polished clip. The pic on the W&W website shows a black clip [see pic in link]?!? I'm losing my mind. So the specs and pic on the W&W site are incorrect?

Yes.

It is a full Size C83 Persian, the clip is silver, blade length is right at 89mm +/- .

I just measured it.

I got those specs off a dealer on ebay. There's a couple on there(the red ones). It's showing a black clip too.

I guess they got it wrong. Thanks for confirming.

Thanks for clarifying, guys.

I just cancelled my order and requested a refund. It's still a great looking (and I'm sure a great performing) blade, it's just that I have the M4 Military coming in VERY soon (:D:):cool:) and that will easily fill the large folder role for my collection/carry needs. Dang, it'd be nice to have both, though!

I missed out on the M4 Millie, but was able to pick up the Persian as the SFO is literally around the corner.

It would be nice to have both, you're right.

The two versions of the knife differ in construction. One has a bolster and one does not.
Is there any practical difference in strength?

Only Ed Schempp, and possibly Sal, could say since they're probably the only ones who've used both versions. Know Ed said a few weeks back he was carrying the prototype for the non-bolstered, FFG, version.

I wouldn't be chopping concrete blocks with either, but I doubt one differs in strength by such that it would be noticeable in practical applications.

Wouter just put nice pictures on Spyderco Forum.

Did anybody else get them already. Mine are getting shipped today. I cannot wait.

Very nice! I want to know where he got the mosaic damascus tablet, that looks interesting.

I'm waiting for mine to ship from Tom. He said around Wednesday, so I'm eager! It's my first new Spyderco knife since the move (around which time I sold most of them off :( ).

The Damascus is some leftover material from when the 25th anniversary Delica came out. Ed Schempp had made the custom Damascus and Spyderco gave away some of the little chunks to forum members.

Does the FFG G-10 model have pinned construction? It looks like the handle is pinned but the blade pivot has a screw, is that right?

I got them from Ed when I met him at an Amsterdam Meet. I will confirm agian that the red G10 Persian is the full size model. It's a very nice piece.

Great pictures as always Wouter. Color looks great, clip looks great, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the "old school" phillips head clip screws. :)
